Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often suggested that big populated cities should build tall apartment buildings to provide enough houses and flats in order to accomodate maximum proportion of people. I firmly agree with this view point due to several compelling reasons.
To commence with, one of the most significant reasons is that the taller a building is, the more accomodation there is for the people with lesser space consumed. This can be attributed to the fact that people nowadays prefer metropolitian cities with all the available facilities which can enhance their standard of living. For this, they usually opt for the same reknowned place no matter which floor they have been alotted , they favour apartment in tall buildings. For instance, Pakistanis are preferring to shift and live permanantly in the Federal Capital (Islamabad) just because the facilities provided in the capital seems attractive to them for a better future for their family. Also, the view of landscape in tall buildings are usually breathtaking which can be another appealing reason for people to prefer tall buildings.
However, this trend can bring serious consequences as well. Tall apartment blocks can be expensive to rent due to their elevated expenditure on construction and maintenance. Furthermore, exitting the building during an emergency such as fire or earthquack can be concerning before opting for a building with increased stature. Also, people staying on the upper floors may experience a delay in their chores when reaching the ground. For instance, it would be mentally stressing and time consuming for a person to reach hospital in an emergency.
In conclusion, although it is good to build tall apartment buildings in order to provide enough homes to people, I strongly believe that by considering to solve all cases of emergency exits, it is undoubtedly preferable and advantageous for people to opt for apartments in elevated buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position agreeing with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. The main argument regarding space efficiency and facilities is presented, but the supporting examples tend to generalize, such as mentioning Pakistani migration to Islamabad without explicitly linking it directly to the architectural benefits of high-rise living. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to extend and support all main ideas with more focused and detailed explanations and fully developed examples throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear organizational structure, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the advantages and disadvantages of tall buildings. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the transition phrase 'To commence with' and repetitive referencing patterns. Additionally, referencing within the text is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in the second paragraph. To reach the next level, the writer should employ a wider range of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure smoother logical transitions between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the main ideas. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'accommodation', 'metropolitan', and 'breathtaking', showing an awareness of style. However, there are some spelling and word-choice errors that occur, including spelling slips like 'accomodate', 'accomodation', 'reknowned', 'alotted', 'permanantly', 'exitting', and 'earthquack'. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the writer from achieving a higher band. To improve, the writer needs to expand control over less common lexical items and eliminate spelling inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as the correlative structure 'the taller a building is, the more accommodation there is'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'the facilities provided ... seems attractive' and awkward prepositional usage. Nevertheless, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication. To achieve a higher band, the writer should aim to produce a greater frequency of error-free sentences utilizing a wider variety of complex grammatical structures with consistent accuracy.
