Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that contructing tall apartment blocks in meteropol is an ideal way to provide enough accomodation. I largely agree with this view because it can be cost effective and requires less amount of land area.
One of the main reasons why I support this view is that, building apartments one over another requires a very small piece of land. This is largely becasue individual plots of land is needed for the construction of new houses in large cities. Urbanization can put strain on the availabilty of land for housing. As a result, other developmet programs could be effected and economic burden could grow. For example, a major portion of big cities requires infrastructure such offices, market, cooperates, educational and government institutions. With rise in demand of new houses, these sectors are effected which in return effect the city as a whole.
A furthure arguement in favour of this postion is that building tall apartment block are cost effective. A single piece of land can be used to build multiple tall story building that would cut the prices to half. Furthermore, individual have to pay a very small amount of tax and other charges. For Instance, due to rise in demands and limited resources the land prices can rise considerably which can force individual to find accomodation out of the cities.
In conclusion, I belive that constructing tall apartment buildings can provide sufficent housing in major cities because It is very budget friendly and can overcome the major issue like limited availability of land.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that largely agrees with the statement. The main ideas are relevant and generally easy to follow, as seen when you explain that building vertically saves land and reduces economic burdens. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed. For instance, the discussion regarding infrastructure and offices being affected by horizontal expansion is introduced but not fully explained or linked back directly to why tall blocks resolve this issue. To reach the next level, you need to extend and fully support all of your main arguments with deeper explanations or more robust examples, avoiding any tendency to over-generalise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraphing structure, where each body paragraph focuses on a distinct main point. You make use of cohesive devices such as 'One of the main reasons' and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun reference in 'which in return effect the city as a whole'. To achieve a higher standard, ensure that your cohesive devices flow more naturally and that logical relationships between sentences are consistently tight and unambiguous throughout the entire piece.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough words to communicate your core message about housing and urbanization. You make several attempts to use less common items, but there are noticeable spelling errors ('contructing', 'meteropol', 'accomodation', 'becasue', 'developmet', 'cooperates', 'furthure', 'arguement', 'belive', 'sufficent') and word choice inaccuracies ('tall story building'). These errors require the reader to occasionally pause, which restricts your score. To improve, you should focus on expanding your precise vocabulary range, mastering standard collocations, and checking your spelling carefully before final submission.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like subordinate clauses and gerund phrases. There are, however, a number of grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement ('individual plots of land is needed', 'building tall apartment block are'), articles ('with rise in demand'), and plurals ('individual have'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication. To move up to the next band, you should aim to produce more frequent error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over grammatical patterns, particularly regarding pluralization and article usage.
