Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is believed that in the large cities the best way to provide homes is by building the tall building blocks. I strongy agree with this view because tall blocks help to provide housing for multiple families rather than single plot occupied by single family and by building large building the remaining land can be utilized for creating parks and other facilities.
Firstly, tall apartments can be utilized to provide shelters for multiple families rather than single family which is first benefit of tall blocks. When single land is owned by individual they can construct suitable house for their family which can be used by only single tenant which is sort of waste of land. For example, by building tall apartment blocks each floor have four houses and it is multiplied by number of floors. Here the main reason to provide homes by building large apratments to build a community, networking with each other, share of thoughts, etc. This is the main reason why I support this view.
Secondly, building large apartments with multiple tenants is also benefcial for authorities. Because local governments can use piece of land for development of cities. For example, if ten families build their own ten house at different locations, rather than doing this five floors apartment do the same work by providing residents at one single place without wasting land for nine other houses. As remianing pieces of land can be used as gardens, public parking, retails shops and also came in use to build public transport system in a very convenient manner.
In conclusion, by building tall apartment blocks it helps to provide enough homes as well provides medium for building better connections and people to socialize with and also local authorities can improve cities infrastructure by not wasting land on single house. That are the reasons I believe that building tall apartment blocks are best way to provide homes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as efficient land use and the creation of community spaces like parks, which align with the prompt requirements. However, some ideas are under-developed or repetitive. For example, while the writer mentions networking and the sharing of thoughts in the second paragraph, this point lacks extended explanation or concrete support. Similarly, the discussion around local authority benefits in the third paragraph touches on important aspects of urban planning, but the explanation remains somewhat general rather than fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the body paragraphs are separated logically. There is a clear progression of ideas moving from family-level housing benefits in the second paragraph to broader government and infrastructural advantages in the third paragraph. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or repetitive, particularly through the frequent reliance on transition markers like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion,' as well as repetitive phrasing such as 'This is the main reason why I support this view.' Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the phrase 'That are the reasons' lacks smooth integration into the surrounding text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common vocabulary related to urban development and housing, such as 'infrastructure,' 'tenants,' and 'urban planning concepts.' However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text that show a limited degree of precision. Examples include typos and incorrect derivations like 'strongy' instead of 'strongly,' 'apratments' instead of 'apartments,' 'benefcial' instead of 'beneficial,' and 'remianing' instead of 'remaining.' Phrasing can also be awkward, such as 'single plot occupied by single family' missing necessary articles, which indicates that while communication is generally maintained, lexical control is inconsistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting multi-clause structures such as 'When single land is owned by individual they can construct suitable house for their family...' However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly concerning articles, singular and plural forms, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include missing articles ('by building large building'), incorrect pluralisation ('ten house at different locations'), and prepositional or structural inaccuracies within complex sentences ('tall apartment blocks each floor have four houses'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they persist across the text, preventing the writing from achieving a higher level of grammatical control.
