Student answer (Band 5.5)

Population is getting increased day by day which the greatest factor for expansion of cities. To provide enough homes in bigger cities the best way is to build tall apartment blocks. I totally agree with this statement because tall apartment blocks are able to conclude larger number of population in a same building which leds to land conservation. This essay will discuss the reason and examples for the favour of this statement.

Nowadays, people needs advanced facilities in almost every sector such as home, office, transportation, hotels and reasturant and so on. With the increasing number of population people are getting more fascinated and smarter, while everyone wants to live in large cities for their bright future and career with better facilities, so large number of population needs more number of shelters. Providing individual home for each and everyone is not possible, also not everyone can afford it inspite of their requirement.

The best way to provide enough shelters is to build tall apartment blocks which consist higher number of floor along with more number of rooms. This is the easiest option for people because the main reason is it saves the cost of buying a new land, while other people waste money on buying expensive land to build homes which leds them to loss of their saving and makes them to get loans from bank for building house. Moerover, buying an apartment comes with various benefits such as parking space, lift and elevator facilities, comfort society, good space for kids like park and fun activities and so on. Apartments can be rented easily which is the best factor for people who cant afford to buy homes.

In conclusion, building tall apartment comes up with many advantages and manages the population of city in a proper way.

Overall5.5

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing with the prompt. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as land conservation, cost efficiency, and additional amenities associated with high-rise living. However, some ideas are under-developed rather than fully explored. For instance, the discussion on land conservation and financial savings is stated rather than expanded with specific examples or deep analysis. The introduction outlines the writer's stance effectively, and the conclusion restates this position, though the body paragraphs could benefit from more detailed extension of arguments to move beyond general assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a logical progression of ideas from the necessity of housing in growing cities to the specific benefits of tall apartment blocks. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Words like 'moreover' and repetitive transitional phrases are used somewhat heavily, and referencing can occasionally be unclear, such as pronoun use like 'it' referring back ambiguously to previous clauses. Paragraphing is utilised, but internal paragraph cohesion lacks seamless transitions, resulting in a somewhat rigid structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items such as 'fascination', 'conservation', and 'amenities' (implied by facilities). However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation, such as 'population is getting increased' instead of 'increasing', 'conclude larger number' instead of 'accommodate', and 'comfort society' instead of 'comfortable community'. Spelling and word choice errors occasionally require the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. A more precise control of lexical items and collocations is needed to achieve a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complexity frequently contain grammatical slips. There are noticeable errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'people needs' instead of 'people need', 'larger number of population needs more number of shelters', and 'cant afford'. Prepositional patterns and plural forms also show instability, for example, 'in the favour of' instead of 'in favour of'. While these errors are frequent enough to remind the reader of lower-band constraints, they rarely impede overall communication, and the basic meaning of the sentences remains clear throughout.
