Student answer (Band 6.0)
The migration of families and individuals from countryside to urban areas is rapidly surging in today`s advancing world. One of the most hazardous impacts of this rapid shift is reduced number of houses and apartments to accommodate the migrating families. Cities have proved to be the perfect hubs for better education, elevated quality of life and great career opportunities; however, their capacity to accommodate ever increasing population is slumping day by day. Therefore i strongly agree with the idea of constructing skyscrapers with apartement blocks to facilitate the families and students. Primarily, the contemporary era influenced by technology is encouraging the individuals to prioritize their career, leaving the exisiting loop of failure and ambiguity. This can only be done when the people grab better opportunities, unfortunately available only in major cities. Moving to major cities is the only option left for them. i also want to mention thta this trend would rapidly increase in future. Henceforth, there should some measures to make apartments and studios easily available for people, for which buildings with apartments are a perfect option. They do not require vast area and make living accessible to families. Additionally, this idea would solve the issue of congestion in major cities, which would lead to reduced deforestation for space. In this advanced world, there are multiple ways of designing the skyscrapper in scientific ways to reduce destruction in case to natural disasters like earthquakes. This reduces the risk of any mishap is future. Ultimately, I would suggest that designing skyscrappers with significant number of apartments is one of the best ways to provide enough accommodations to families and individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on building tall apartment blocks to solve housing shortages in large cities. The main arguments are introduced and relevant to the prompt, such as economic opportunities and saving space from deforestation. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the point regarding scientific design against natural disasters is introduced briefly without sufficient elaboration or support. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support all main arguments with deeper explanations and concrete examples rather than relying on general assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text displays an overall coherent arrangement with a clear progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Primarily', 'Additionally', and 'Ultimately', but the referencing and logical links between some sentences feel slightly mechanical. For example, the transition between discussing career priorities and the need for apartment buildings lacks a smooth connective thread. Improving the variety and seamless integration of cohesive devices would enhance the flow of ideas throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'hazardous impacts', 'slumping', and 'congestion'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, along with occasional spelling mistakes like 'apartement' and 'skyscrapper'. Some phrases are used inappropriately in context, such as 'leaving the existing loop of failure and ambiguity'. While communication is not severely impeded, these vocabulary and spelling inaccuracies restrict the score. Incorporating more precise terminology and ensuring correct word forms will significantly strengthen this aspect.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as concessive clauses ('Cities have proved to be...; however...') and relative clauses. There are several grammar and punctuation errors, including capitalization issues ('i strongly agree'), missing articles ('there should some measures'), and preposition misuse in phrases like 'in case to natural disasters'. Fortunately, these errors rarely impede overall communication. To achieve a higher standard, the writer must exercise better control over complex sentence patterns and eliminate basic errors in articles, capitalization, and prepositional structures.
