Overall4.0

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally and tangentially, touching upon the topic of tall apartment blocks in cities, but failing to develop a clear, sustained position. The arguments presented regarding housing shortages and health concerns are extremely limited and repetitive, lacking proper extension or support. Furthermore, an important limitation is that the response falls short of the required word count, containing only 225 words instead of the minimum 250, which restricts full development of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the response. The text lacks clear overall progression, and the division of ideas into logical paragraphs is absent, with many fragmented lines and disjointed thoughts, such as the sudden pivot to discussing microbes and hostels. Cohesive devices are either missing or used inaccurately, making the relationship between sentences difficult to follow. Pronoun referencing and logical transitions between the points about housing and health are frequently unclear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, utilizing simple terms like 'house', 'city', and 'people' repeatedly. There are noticeable lexical errors, incorrect word forms, and spelling mistakes—such as 'modefied', 'availble', and 'usälly'—that strain the reader and impede smooth communication. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'surffetation', but uses it inaccurately, demonstrating a limited range that struggles to convey precise meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence patterns where attempts at more complex structures frequently result in severe errors. Errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, articles, and missing prepositions are frequent and often distort the intended meaning, as seen in phrases like 'the people provide the houses by government is become challenge'. Punctuation control is also weak, further reducing the readability of the text.
