Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally and fails to meet the required 250-word minimum, containing only 106 words. While a clear position against the statement is stated, the ideas are extremely limited and under-developed. For example, the points regarding earthquakes ('an earth quick the tall building can vanished out easily') and construction height are briefly mentioned without extension or relevant supporting examples. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure the word count requirement is met and develop each main idea fully with explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation through the use of listing markers ('FIRST OF ALL', 'THE SECOND REASON', 'THE THIRD REASON'), but there is no clear overall progression across the text. The paragraphs are presented as isolated, single-sentence points rather than a cohesive whole. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive, and referencing is sometimes unclear. To improve, the writer needs to group related ideas into well-developed paragraphs and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to smoothly link sentences and paragraphs together.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, and frequent errors in spelling and word choice severely strain the reader's understanding. Examples include 'earth quick' instead of earthquake, 'vanished out' instead of collapse, and 'hight' instead of height. Less common vocabulary is not attempted successfully. To move to a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, learn correct word forms and spellings, and select words that accurately convey precise meanings without impeding communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mainly of simple structures that are frequently inaccurate. There are major errors in sentence construction, verb forms, and negation, such as 'I AM NOT AGREE' instead of 'I do not agree', and 'IT IS VERY DEFICULT TO MAKING' instead of 'it is very difficult to make'. Errors are frequent and often distort the intended meaning. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate control over basic sentence patterns, verb complements, and punctuation while reducing the frequency of foundational grammatical errors.
