Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, I am totally agree with this. Because there are lot of home issues in the large cities. Due to over population the homes are less and the crowd are huge so somewhere it's not fiting. Defienetly the solution is to build tall apartments blocks help in this. If the large cities build the tall apartments then everyone have their homes and they comfortabaly live there. If the tall aparttments can't build, rather build lot of small apartments then it needs lot of space and land. For large land and space the city would do the tree cutting and acquire a agriculture land also seems it's unaccepatble. For the better infrastructure tree harvesting is unaccepatbale for the envoirments. Moreover there are lot of conciquence if we do this global warming and pollutaion. According to my experience, It is totally worty to build the tall apartments for the large cities. I have been lived in the metro cities for many years. I have seen the infrastructure devlopement and how it has done. They are build the infrastrcture over the land acquaisation which is actually reserve for farming. They are given a huge prices to the farmer and then taken those agreeculture lands and then buld a specious levish aprtments and sold it for the huge amount. It leads the lot of disadvantoues after cutting the tress the plants and destroying the agriculture land to build a apartments then it's totally opposite of envoirment and that is the reason I am agree with the tall apartments which is actually beneficial for everyone for the city and it's peopale can live happily without any damage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the statement, noting that tall apartment blocks help solve housing shortages and protect agricultural land. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the point about saving land from tree harvesting and farming is extended into a discussion on environmental consequences like global warming and pollution, other ideas remain somewhat under-developed or repetitive. The writer supports the arguments with relevant personal experience and examples regarding metro city development and land acquisition. To move to a higher level, the response would need to explore the arguments with greater depth and broader supporting examples, avoiding repetitive assertions of agreement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement in terms of intent, but the lack of proper paragraphing significantly hinders readability and logical progression. The entire response is presented as a single, dense block of text rather than distinct paragraphs for introduction, body points, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt transitions using 'If' and 'Moreover', and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in vague pronoun usage like 'They are build the infrastrcture'. To improve, the writer must organise ideas into clear paragraphs and use a wider, more natural variety of cohesive links to guide the reader smoothly through the arguments.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their general meaning about housing and urban development. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'infrastructure', 'acquisition', 'consequence', and 'agriculture', but these are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation, such as 'tree harvesting', 'specious levish aprtments', and 'disadvantoues'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'fiting', 'Defienetly', 'comfortabaly', 'aparttments', 'envoirments', 'conciquence', 'pollutaion', 'worty', 'devlopement', 'aquaisation', and 'tress'. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures and relative clauses, such as 'If the large cities build the tall apartments then everyone have their homes'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving subject-verb agreement ('the crowd are', 'everyone have'), missing articles ('build tall apartments blocks', 'reserve for farming'), incorrect verb forms ('are build the infrastrcture', 'have been lived'), and prepositional errors. Although the meaning can generally be discerned despite these errors, the frequent inaccuracies in basic and complex structures prevent the response from achieving a higher level of grammatical control.
