Student answer (Band 5.0)

I generally disaggree with this statement due to its disadvantages and effects on our environment. First of all starting with the ecosystem effect on earth, as tall building will cause birds flight in large cities. Less birds means less decomposition. Second effect on our environment is reachable sunlight, due to tall buildings no proper sunlight will be reached to every apartment. No sunlight light or less sunlight can cause a severe health problem to humen and building structure. Third effect of tall building on our environment is having less trees. This is the fact that having more tall building in a city obviously consists of less trees. And in this conjusted buildings area cause more polution in it. Building will have more houses and more people in it so this cause more polution. So these environmnetal issue much severe as we think. And an other point that more building cause a depressed environment for humen to live. Now if we talk about the single story house and compare them to tall building, small single story houses always have advantages. Advantages like a proper sunlight , more trees and plants, less polution and population and a comfortable environment. After considering these advantages i would definetly disagree with that statement. Another main effect of tall building apartments is increase on population. Increase in building apartments also increases the population, which results in of increase the traffic and polution. So this idea cause a severe damage to our environment and public health, it must be stopped and an environment friendly idea should be introduced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task by stating a clear position against tall apartment blocks, providing several arguments related to environmental impacts and population density. However, these ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the point regarding ecosystem effects and birds is introduced with phrasing like 'as tall building will cause birds flight in large cities' but lacks sufficient explanation or evidence. Similarly, claims about sunlight and health problems are repetitive and lack extension. The writer maintains a discernible viewpoint throughout, but the reasoning is overly general and requires further elaboration and specific examples to fully explore the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation evident in the writing, with attempts to sequence ideas using transitional markers such as 'First of all', 'Second effect', and 'Third effect'. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the text suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, as the entire response is compressed into a single block of text. Cohesive devices are frequently repetitive and mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'So this idea cause a severe damage'. The lack of distinct paragraph breaks significantly impairs the logical flow of the argument from introduction to conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey basic concepts related to urbanization and the environment. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation throughout the text, such as 'disaggree', 'humen', 'conjusted', 'polution', and 'environmnetal'. These lexical inaccuracies sometimes cause difficulty for the reader. While the writer attempts some less common topic-related vocabulary like 'ecosystem', 'decomposition', and 'population density', the high frequency of spelling and morphological mistakes restricts the range and precision of the lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and repetitive clauses. Attempts at complex or compound sentences are frequently faulty, seen in phrases like 'as tall building will cause birds flight in large cities' and 'due to tall buildings no proper sunlight will be reached to every apartment'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, plurals, articles, and prepositions, such as 'more tall building', 'a proper sunlight', and 'increase on population'. These frequent grammatical errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader in following the intended meaning.
