Student answer (Band 5.5)

The ultimate way to give many houses in big cities is to construct huge buildings. I agree with this statement. By doing this people have more option to live. It is also manageable for the authorities to give houses for more people in limited area.

People have more areas or options to live. It is said that a person can live in any appartment which comes in their budget. Some areas may have higher rents or the value of those may be higher which is nearer to the office, university or near to the market place. For instance the rent or price of the house in Islamabad near to the markaz area is higher with respect to the area which is abit far from the markaz.

The other thing is that large cities are also so much busy and lots of people comes to live their. So, this idea is great to accomodate all the people that come from different places. Although already there are tall buildings for them to live, but still more and more peolple are coming to live in big cities. So, It is more important to construct more appartments to accomodate them. I saw the documentary of living a life in a largest city of Singapor, people are living in such a small appartments that standing straight is imposible. Due to less area they are forced to live in that place, although government have build large amount of tall buildings.

In conclusion, I agree with constructing tall building for living. People have different options to live in their affordable place, and near to their work place. As more and more people migrating from small areas to big cities, it is the duty of the government ot construct as many buildings for the ease of the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position of agreement regarding the construction of tall apartment blocks, and includes relevant examples, such as referencing Islamabad and Singapore. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. While the writer mentions housing affordability and urban migration, the explanations are brief and lack depth or extended extension. To move closer to a higher band, the response would need to develop its main arguments more fully with broader supporting details and clearer analysis rather than relying on repetitive statements about people moving to cities.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text shows some organization with basic paragraphing and general progression, but overall cohesion is hindered by inadequate and repetitive cohesive devices. Phrases like 'The other thing is that' and 'In conclusion' are used mechanically, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun confusion when referring back to previously mentioned concepts. While the general train of thought is discernible, the lack of smooth transitions and logical flow between sentences prevents the essay from achieving a clearer overarching progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent lexical and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'give many houses' instead of 'provide housing', 'appartment' with incorrect spelling, and awkward collocations like 'large amount of tall buildings' instead of 'a large number'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts often falter due to inappropriate word forms or imprecise meanings, reflecting the current lexical constraints.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences. Attempts at complex sentence forms are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include subject-verb agreement errors ('lots of people comes'), incorrect pluralization ('peolple'), missing articles, and awkward prepositional phrases within sentences. To improve, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic sentence patterns and reduce the density of grammatical errors.
