Student answer (Band 5.0)
The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.
yes i am totally agree with that statment because now days population increases widely so in rural area side people often want build their new or big home. Furthermore in rural area have a low price land therefore many people buy a huge number on land and build a big house as their need. due to this reason many poor people live their home and shift in cite side for finding a job.
resently in city side people faced more or more traffic because of increasing population and every one want to live and do job in cites .
but lack of land people can't contract their own banglos.
moreover sovlaing this problem i think build a tall apartment blocks because of these we need small land and their can live several mankind without using a large number of land.
for example in the year 1990 mumbai has 2 millions population Nd now a days Mumbai have 10 millions population.
so government started to construct a numerius apartment so Mumbai people can live comfortably and every people having a own house in Mumbai or they can live and do work their.
overall i think in city side build tall apartment blocks for everyone so all yhe people have enough homes and doing well job or work
due to indirectly it's help to decrease the unemployment ratio in the country so am strongly agree with that.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks, but the treatment of the task is limited and under-developed. Furthermore, the length requirement is NOT met: the response contains 235 words, falling 15 words short of the 250-word minimum (with 16 words copied directly from the task prompt excluded from the count). The writer attempts to present a position ('yes i am totally agree with that statment'), but ideas regarding rural versus urban shifts and population growth are expressed in a repetitive and tangential manner. While the writer touches on the core issue of housing shortages in cities and provides an example involving Mumbai, the overall development lacks depth and clear focus, keeping the response firmly at this band level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation, such as attempting to separate ideas into paragraphs and using transitional words like 'Furthermore', 'moreover', and 'overall'. However, there is no clear overall progression of argument, and the paragraphing is awkward and disjointed. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, making it difficult for the reader to follow a logical train of thought. For example, sentences in the middle of the text abruptly jump between rural land prices, traffic, and the inability to construct bungalows without smooth transitions. To improve, the writer needs to group related ideas into unified paragraphs and use cohesive markers more naturally to guide the reader through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer relies heavily on basic, repetitive words and terms such as 'big home', 'city side', and 'people'. There are noticeable lexical errors, including incorrect word forms, inappropriate collocations, and spelling mistakes (such as 'statment', 'now days', 'resently', 'cites', 'banglos', 'sovlaing', 'mankind' used instead of humankind/people, 'numerius', and 'yhe'). These errors often cause some difficulty for the reader and reveal a restricted control of word choice. To reach a higher level, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, learn correct word pairings, and pay closer attention to standard spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside faulty attempts at complex structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and non-standard sentence patterns. Examples include 'population increases widely', 'in rural area have a low price land', 'people live their home and shift in cite side', 'people can't contract their own banglos', and 'every people having a own house'. These frequent errors frequently impede communication and strain the reader's understanding. To improve, the writer needs to practise basic sentence construction, ensure accurate subject-verb agreement, and gain better control over tense consistency.
