Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, I agree that best way to handle the large population of city is building the tall apartment blocks. I'll discuss some of the points to support my decision.
As we know the most number of people you can find in a country would be in the city , since cities provides you the opporunity to explore things that yo u can find less anywhere else, I mean hospital, schools, colleges, universities and jobs etc.
Many people come to city from different villages to work here, to study or to explore things. So city holds many people, in order to handle all of them, we need taller buildings, since one taller building can hold many people.
In modern countries like China, America and Japan etc you will see there are many tall buildings, the stragtegy is handle population of city.
In Pakistan capital city i.e, Islamabad, you see there are many houses in each sector, that provide less amount rooms or apartment to handle population. Each home just not bring people to live in it, it also has to take care of car, garbage and other things.
Also taller buildings in city gives you aesthetic view for people to work, education or spend time with families in city, just like Shangai, Tokyo or Paris.
In taller building need less area to hold more people. As i mentioned about Islamabad, right now CDA doing the same thing , now shifting from home to taller building to facilite more people in less area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in agreement with building tall apartment blocks, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. While the writer attempts to provide supporting points, such as mentioning rural-to-urban migration and referencing cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Islamabad, these explanations are basic and lack sufficient elaboration or depth. The discussion tends to generalise rather than fully support the arguments with detailed reasoning or extended examples. For instance, the reference to Islamabad touches upon urban planning and space management, but this idea is left undeveloped rather than thoroughly explored. To move towards higher levels, the writer needs to present fully developed ideas with extended explanations and more robust supporting evidence throughout the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text displays some organisation, such as a basic introductory stance and subsequent paragraphs touching on different points, but it lacks clear overall progression. Paragraphing is rudimentary and chaotic, with several very short, single-sentence paragraphs that fragment the flow of thought rather than grouping coherent ideas together. Furthermore, cohesive devices are inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, relying heavily on basic connectors like 'Also' and 'So' to link sentences. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in abrupt shifts between personal opinions, general city trends, and specific geographical examples without smooth transitional phrasing. To improve in this area, the writer should focus on creating a logical sequence of ideas with clear overarching progression, using a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices, and structuring the essay into well-defined paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message of the essay. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'aesthetic view' and 'strategy', but these are often marked by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as writing 'stragtegy is handle population' and 'provide less amount rooms'. There are also frequent spelling and lexical slips, including 'opporunity', 'yo u', and 'Shangai'. While communication of the general viewpoint is still achieved, these lexical inaccuracies constrain the precision of the writing. To reach a higher standard, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to natural word combinations and collocations, and ensure correct word forms and spelling throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled attempts at complex forms. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including missing articles ('in city', 'in taller building'), incorrect prepositions ('population of city'), subject-verb agreement issues ('cities provides'), and faulty clause structures (e.g., 'the stragtegy is handle population'). Punctuation is also weak, featuring run-on clauses and irregular comma splices. Because attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty and errors are recurrent across basic patterns, the grammatical control restricts the clarity of the text. To achieve a stronger outcome, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence forms with improved accuracy in verb tenses, articles, plurals, and overall sentence construction.
