Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that placing tall apartment blocks in big cities is the best solution for providing enough roofs to dwellers. While, it sounds practical argument and I agree to the large extent, I contend that tall aprtments are not the only solution. This eassay will discuss convinince of tall building blocks and the neccessity of other types of households in big urban cities.
To commence with the main reason why tall buildings are believed to be the best way for providing households in big cities. As increasing population and continuous flow of dwellers to move in big cities are the major affecting factors. This is because big cities are considered as employment hub and provides enumourous opportunities and facilities. Rising number of citizens directly leads to lack of clear land to consturct the enough homes. Tall apartment blocks clearlly solve this problem by allowing hundreds of families to live on single land block. It is also benficial by making parking slots, water facility, electricity and gas supply more convinient to manage for large population.
Another point to taken into the account is that there are som significase of other types of houdholds that should not be ingnore. Such as banglows are sign of the wealthier families and that plays vital role showing heritage and value of the city. small recidencies however convinient for the middle class people who prefer less crowded neighbourhood. The benefits of the high-rise apartments, however, outweigh the drawbacks.
In conclusion, I support the statement to the great extent since it clearly solves problem of less avaibility of homes in big cities; moreover, it makes basic facilities easier to manage. However, we should not completely remove other type of houses as they still holds great significance in urban areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that agrees to a large extent while acknowledging other types of housing. The main ideas are relevant, such as discussing how high-rise apartments accommodate growing populations and ease the management of basic utilities. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full extension. For instance, the discussion on bungalows and smaller residences in the third paragraph is rather brief and lacks concrete examples or deeper explanation compared to the well-explored arguments for tall buildings. To move to a higher level, all main points need to be fully elaborated with robust supporting evidence and thorough explanation throughout every body paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement and presents a clear logical progression throughout the response. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the introduction, body arguments, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as "To commence with" and "In conclusion," though referencing and mechanical linking are at times slightly faulty or repetitive. The half-band achievement is visible because while the organizational structure is clear and ideas flow reasonably well, the management of cohesive devices lacks the flexibility and smooth integration characteristic of higher bands. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring clearer referencing between sentences would enhance the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as "urban cities" and "heritage." However, there are numerous noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that restrict the score, such as "aprtments," "convinince," "neccessity," "enumourous," "consturct," "benficial," "som significase," "houdholds," "ingnore," "banglows," "recidencies," and "avaibility." While communication is generally maintained despite these slips, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies prevents the writing from achieving a higher level. To improve, the student needs to focus on correct spelling conventions, precise word forms, and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and varied structures. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as article omissions and awkward phrasing like "While, it sounds practical argument and I agree to the large extent" and "since it clearly solves problem of less avaibility." Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. The writing sits comfortably at this level because the grammatical structures used are generally controlled, though frequent minor slips in articles, prepositions within patterns, and agreement prevent it from reaching full error-free fluency in complex sentences.
