To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 4.5)

Making highest apartments in big cities is good to provide homes for maximum pupils. Yes I'm agree with this statement.

Creating Highest Apartment for maximum peoples in minimum space is better than covering maximum space for creating maximum houses. I' totally agree with this statement because in highest apartment maximum peoples can live easily & it cannot consume maximum area & its good for pupils to live in highest apartment because there will be no issue of oxygen and many peoples like to live apartment life.

Let me explain you with example recently a town created in japan & there are just apartments are created in this town because the population of japan is too much that's why japan started the creation of apartments instead of creating houses.

Just few things needed for the apartment if many peoples live in highest apartment then large parking is required , Maximum lifts are required in apartment because maximum old peoples are not able to go through stairs maximum security is required but these things are common our main topic is about the space .

The highest apartment help the maximum pupils to live to gather in one place not much space will be required for maximum peoples .

Most of peoples love to enjoy the environment & in highest apartment the peoples will enjoy the all environment through balcony get fresh air through balcony.

It's good to creating highest apartments for maximum peoples instead of creating the maximum houses because maximum houses consume too much space for maximum peoples.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt partially, expressing agreement with the statement about tall apartment blocks. However, the position is expressed in a very repetitive and basic manner, such as in the opening lines 'Yes I'm agree with this statement' and repeated phrases throughout the text. The ideas presented are limited and under-developed, relying on brief, simplistic examples like 'recently a town created in japan'. While the main arguments concerning space-saving and necessary facilities like lifts and security are introduced, they lack the necessary depth and extension to move beyond a partial coverage of the task. To improve, the writer needs to clearly formulate distinct supporting arguments, extend them with well-developed explanations and concrete examples, and avoid repetitive phrasing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The information and ideas are not arranged coherently overall. There is a lack of clear logical progression throughout the text, and the essay fails to use paragraphing effectively to structure distinct arguments. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, leading to a disjointed flow where sentences feel isolated rather than connected. For instance, transitional phrases between points are absent, and ideas jump abruptly from space-saving to parking, lifts, and back to space-saving. To achieve a higher level, the writer must organise the response into logical paragraphs, each dedicated to a single main idea, and employ a variety of cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', and appropriate pronouns to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, which minimally covers the task but restricts the precision of expression. Throughout the response, the student relies heavily on basic terms and incorrect word forms, such as 'highest apartments' instead of 'high-rise apartments', and 'maximum peoples' instead of 'most people' or 'a large population'. There are also noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations like 'enjoy the all environment'. These limitations and errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the development of a more sophisticated style. To progress, the writer should expand their lexical repertoire by learning correct word forms, exploring synonyms for common words, and studying natural collocations related to urban living and architecture.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical structures used are very limited in range, consisting mainly of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex forms. Frequent errors are present throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'there are just apartments are created', incorrect prepositions, and non-standard verb forms like 'It's good to creating'. Punctuation is also poorly managed, with run-on sentences and missing capitalization. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and occasionally obscure the intended meaning. To improve, the writer needs to practise forming accurate simple and complex sentences, focus on correct verb tenses and auxiliary verbs, and ensure proper punctuation use to make the writing clearer and more grammatically sound.
