Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe in big cities to sort out the problem of homes, constructing appartments in large buildings is the only solution. I agree with this statement to some extent because it requires less land and it fulfill the residential need of rising population, while on the other hand it has less privacy and more noise.
Population is increasing day by day and people are moving towards big cities, therefore there is a stress on big cities to give them proper resident. Manufacturing a large buildings with apartments is the best solution because it do not require a large amount of land. A notable example of this is at a limited amount of space most of the citizens can live without any problem.
On the other hand, these vertical buildings offer less space and individuals remain crowded. It does not offer more privacy and these buildings are less peaceful. For instance, there is no more greenery in these buildings so they do not provides fresh and calm environment. Everyone feels disturb and tired in these apartment blocks. If more residents will live at one place it can cause traffic issues and water sewage systems problem. Therefore, a mild approach is better there should be proper transpostation so, citizens should not face any prblem regarding commuting to big cities.
To some limited extent building tall buildings is a good solution but it can ba the reason of several issues like privacy, traffic jam, noise problems and many more therefore, an intermediate way like proper transportation system is the best way to get rid of these problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether tall apartment blocks are the best solution for housing in large cities. You acknowledge both the benefits, such as land efficiency and accommodating a rising population, and the drawbacks, including reduced privacy and noise issues. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on land usage and residential needs is introduced well, but the supporting points in the body paragraphs tend to be repetitive and lack deeper elaboration. To reach a higher level, you should extend your arguments with more detailed explanations and specific real-world examples rather than relying on generalisations about noise and greenery.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction and reiterated in the conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the introduction, body arguments, and conclusion. However, the cohesion between and within sentences is sometimes mechanical or faulty. You rely on basic cohesive devices such as 'on the other hand' and 'therefore', and referencing is not always clear, as seen in the pronoun usage in sentences like 'so they do not provides'. Progression is present, but the logical flow between ideas could be smoother. To achieve a higher band, you need to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing is precise throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points about housing and urban growth. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'intermediate way' and 'residential need', but this is accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form. For example, spelling and form errors such as 'appartments', 'resident' instead of 'residence', and 'transpostation' appear throughout the text. Additionally, some collocations are unnatural, such as 'manufacturing a large buildings'. To improve your lexical score, you must broaden your vocabulary range and focus on precise word formation, correct spelling, and natural collocations suitable for academic writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional clauses and subordinate clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that restrict the band. These include issues with subject-verb agreement and verb forms, such as 'it do not require', 'they do not provides', and 'everyone feels disturb'. Furthermore, article and preposition usage within grammatical patterns shows persistent weakness. Although these errors rarely impede overall communication, they prevent the text from achieving a higher rating. To advance, you need to exercise greater control over complex sentence structures and carefully check your basic grammatical agreements and verb tenses.
