Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is often argued that provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. While some people believe this is true,i partly disagree with view of point. This essay will explain my position by discussing the two main reasons supporting my opinion. The primary reason I disagree is that build the tall apartment is not the exact solution of population in cities we should have new enough place for the new housing schemes. This is because build the new apartment tall causes the serious problems. For instance,if we constructed the tall building there is chance to fell on some one due to poor quality of construction material.Consequently, building fell down on some one house that is why we should constructed the building with good material and with experiance labour.Another compelling argument is that lightning of thunder cloudes in the bad weather situation. In other words, lightning is one of the most dangerous phenomenon of nature because is damage the tall building first in that the building also fell down to other house.Hence it would be dangerous for the other indivisuals who are living with your house. A good example of this some times in bad weather condition there is also concern of electrical shot circuit. As a result there will also problem of electricity.Hence build shortest appartment might be less fair of that problems. In conclusion,I strongly disagree with that tall appartment because it would be fell down by some poor material and other due to lightning. Considering these points, i firmly believe that this perspective is this most practical and beneficial.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response meets the task minimally, and it is important to note that the length requirement is not met, as the student's response contains only 248 words, falling just short of the 250-word minimum (with 12 words copied from the prompt excluded). The writer attempts to address the prompt by disagreeing with the statement, but the position is not always clear or well-maintained due to confusing reasoning. Ideas are very limited and under-developed. For example, instead of discussing urban planning, housing demand, or infrastructure constraints, the arguments focus heavily on improbable scenarios such as buildings falling down due to poor construction materials or being struck by lightning. Furthermore, parts of the text repeat the same superficial points without extending them logically, resulting in a minimal response that only tangentially engages with the core issue of urban housing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation with attempts at paragraphing, but the essay lacks clear overall progression. The connection of ideas is frequently faulty and mechanical. Basic cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'Consequently', 'Another compelling argument', and 'In conclusion' are used, but they are often misapplied or link poorly constructed ideas. Referencing is also unclear at times, such as 'that is why we should constructed the building with good material' and 'who are living with your house', which confuses the logical flow. While the text is divided into paragraphs, the internal transitions and sequencing of thoughts make it difficult for the reader to follow a cohesive argument from introduction to conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a limited range that struggles to convey precise meaning. There are frequent lexical errors in word choice, word form, and collocation that strain the reader's comprehension. Examples include 'build the tall apartment', 'experiance labour', 'lightning of thunder cloudes', 'phenomenon of nature because is damage', and 'electrical shot circuit'. Word forms are also confused, such as using 'shortest appartment' instead of shorter or lower buildings. These errors in spelling and word choice highlight a restricted vocabulary that is only minimally adequate for discussing a housing topic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple structures and faulty attempts at complex sentences. Errors are frequent and often distort the meaning. There are widespread issues with verb forms, tense consistency, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. For instance, the opening sentence 'It is often argued that provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks' contains a major infinitive error. Other glaring errors include 'if we constructed the tall building there is chance to fell on some one', 'building fell down on some one house', and 'build shortest appartment might be less fair of that problems'. Punctuation and spacing errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, further compound the lack of control over basic grammatical and mechanical rules.
