Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is considered an effective way to provide adequate housing in metropolitan cities by large apartment blocks. I agree with this statement to a large extent .

Discussing the point of the agreement , the first point is not everyone buys their own land to build a house due to lack of money or financial problems, so in large or the same land to build apartment blocks people buy their own houses through a loan. Moreover, the second one is deficiency of land. For example in mumbai so many areas have no more sufficient land to build a house therefore people build an apartment and buy a flat in blocks . Another reason is that it also becomes easier for the government to provide essential services such as water supply , electricity , and gas connection .

Discussing the point of disagreement , First one is not every person has their personal rooftop explaining further they can not install their private renewable energy in adition the government not provide suffcient facilities like water supply , gas line and infrastructure everyone needs to personal housing depand son the thier finacial stuatution for example in many large cities many large apartment not reqiure buy individuals made aparetment in many citeis and area government should take action on thier .

To conclude, large buildings can have many benefits. It is also easy for the government to manage the facilities. But also a number of problems occur in large areas difficult for a government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially, presenting a clear position that agrees with the prompt to a large extent. The main ideas regarding financial limitations, land scarcity, and governmental efficiency are introduced, but they remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the paragraph discussing the counter-argument is fragmented and lacks coherent extension, jumping between private renewable energy, government facilities, and individual financial situations without fully exploring any single point. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend all ideas more fully and ensure that every argument is supported with clear, well-developed explanations rather than abrupt assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation present, as the writer attempts to divide the response into introduction, supporting arguments, counter-arguments, and a conclusion, and uses paragraph breaks. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or repetitive, relying on mechanical transitions like 'Discussing the point of the agreement' and 'Discussing the point of disagreement'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and sentences within paragraphs do not flow smoothly together. To improve, the writer should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive devices to link ideas logically and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic points about housing and cities. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'deficiency of land' instead of a more natural collocation, and word-formation issues like 'depand son the thier finacial stuatution'. Spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, including 'adition' and 'suffcient', occur frequently and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader in grasping the exact meaning. To achieve a higher score, the student must expand their lexical range, incorporate less common vocabulary with greater precision, and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, leading to run-on sentences and punctuation errors, such as missing periods and incorrect comma placement. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns, for example in 'in mumbai so many areas have no more sufficient land'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To move up, the writer should focus on mastering simple sentence forms while building accurate control over complex structures, ensuring correct punctuation and tense consistency throughout.
