Student answer (Band 5.0)

Cities are very crowded due to over-population that cause shortage of houses however, building blocks are more common than 10 to 20 Marla houses. I fully agree with the view to build a multi story housing complexes.

To start with, tall buildings play an impotant role in the utilization of land. As more places are available for cultivation of field crops and trees. Moreover, a number of people live in one place. They can easily meet with each other and spend a lot of time. Furthermore, they use water, electricity and transportation in cheaper amounts. For example my niece lives in a block and she have all facilities that would be beneficial for her family and available in reasonable amount.

On the other hand, although there are a significant number of housing schemes and the public could benefit from them due to huge parks, mosques, medical stores, schools, and super-markets. In addition, these areas are congested due to the population and expenses of schemes were much higher than apartments. For example, their electricity utilities were raised from 10% to 20% and property taxes were also increases, moreover, their food, meat and vegetables prices were also touch the sky. City life become stressfull and boring.

In conclusion, although life is stress-free in houses and a lot of privacy is there but tall apartments were cheap and affordable and all facilities are in one plate-form.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear in the opening: “I fully agree” with building multi-storey housing, and you give relevant reasons, including efficient land use, shared facilities and lower costs. You also acknowledge advantages of housing schemes and private houses, which shows some awareness of the opposing view. However, the response addresses the question only partially: several points are brief or unclear, and the comparison does not fully explain why tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The examples about your niece and rising costs need clearer detail and explanation. The response is also below the required 250 words. Develop each main reason with a specific explanation or example, and make the conclusion directly reinforce your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting apartments, a paragraph presenting drawbacks or alternatives, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To start with,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the point about land for crops and trees is followed by social benefits without explaining their connection, while the second body paragraph shifts among housing schemes, congestion, expenses and city life. Some links are mechanical, and punctuation around transitions is inconsistent. Organise each paragraph around one clear central point, then explain and illustrate it; use references and linking expressions only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “utilization of land,” “housing schemes,” “property taxes,” and “facilities,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. Examples include “available in one plate-form,” “prices were also touch the sky,” and “transportation in cheaper amounts.” Spelling errors such as “impotant” and “stressfull” are also noticeable. Aim for precise, natural phrases suited to an academic essay, and check spelling and word forms. For instance, describe costs as “lower” or “more affordable,” and use “shared amenities” when referring to facilities available to residents.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a few complex structures, including “although there are a significant number of housing schemes” and the contrast in your conclusion, but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and errors are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “over-population that cause” has a subject–verb agreement error, “she have” should agree with its subject, and “their electricity utilities were raised” has an unclear and faulty verb construction. Sentence boundaries are also problematic: “As more places are available for cultivation of field crops and trees” is a fragment, and the opening joins clauses without appropriate punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, tense consistency, articles and punctuation before submitting.
