Student answer (Band 5.0)
I strongly disagree by the statement that " For providing enough homes in large cities the best way is to build tall apartments" In my opinion everythings has 2 sides and i am on the other side of the statement. Construction of tall apartment in the whole city will not be the most effective way because i think living apartment can be traumatazing after a period of time. Human have some basic requirments life air water sunlight which will not be equally provided to everyone . tall apartments will block things for small houses and it increses the risk of falling during natural desestar like earthquack. The shaking of land during earthquack can not be predicted and can cause life loss and infrurastructure loss. shelter in one of the basic and important requriement of humans. Goverment should step in such kind sitution , one of the major reason of larger city creation is unemployment in neighbour cities and towns. unavaiblity of employment leads to creating of large city followed by the development in the city it self. Still goverment should do proper analysis in the city in order to maintain safe and developing enviorment. A city consist of all type of age groups so its important to design infrastructure accordingly. as i belive its better to have more houses with garders and parks rather than tall buildings. people can live in sharing in order to save space and i strongly believe a big cuty should consist of everything like parks apartment, socities, small houses buildings and natural biodiversity, building only tall apartment is not the solution according to me.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you disagree that tall apartment blocks are the best solution, and you give relevant concerns about sunlight, safety during earthquakes, and the need for parks and varied housing. You also introduce a possible role for government planning. However, the response only partly develops the task. Several points are asserted rather than explained—for example, the claim that apartment living can be “traumatazing” is not supported with a specific reason or example, and the earthquake point is not compared with the housing benefits of high-rise construction. Develop two or three main arguments in more depth, explain how they support your position, and include a relevant example. Clarifying whether you oppose all tall buildings or only relying on them would also strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response contains a recognisable line of thought, moving from your disagreement to concerns about high-rise living, government planning, and a preference for mixed housing. However, ideas are presented in one continuous paragraph, so the reader has little help distinguishing the main arguments or seeing how they relate. Connections are sometimes abrupt: the discussion shifts from earthquake risk to unemployment in nearby towns without explaining the link. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” or “For this reason” would help, but paragraphing is also needed: use one paragraph for the drawbacks of relying on towers and another for your preferred city-planning approach. Clearer sequencing and references between ideas would make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to urban planning, including “infrastructure,” “natural biodiversity,” “employment,” and “development,” and the reader can generally identify your main meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “living apartment,” “basic requirments life,” and “big cuty.” Spelling errors—including “desestar,” “earthquack,” and “Goverment”—are noticeable and sometimes slow understanding. Aim to use precise, familiar expressions accurately before reaching for more complex wording. For example, describe the basic needs people require, explain how high-rise buildings affect nearby homes, and use consistent terms such as “apartment blocks” or “high-rise buildings.” Proofreading for spelling and word forms would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, as in “The shaking of land during earthquack can not be predicted and can cause life loss.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the range of structures is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in articles, agreement, plurals, and sentence boundaries occur throughout: “Human have,” “A city consist,” and “shelter in one of the basic” make the reader pause. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly where new sentences begin after full stops. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles and plural forms. For instance, “People have basic needs, including air, water and sunlight” expresses one of your ideas more clearly.
