Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, the rapid growth of population has created serious issue in the cities, some people believe that to construct large buliding appartment is most efective way to provide sufficent homes. i agree wtih this statement because large building provide more houses in limited space of land.
firstly, building tall appartment blocks is an effective way to accommodate a large number of people in a limited land. this is particulary important thing where land is limited in cities because rapid growth of people that's a best solution rather than we make indiviual houses in cities. they also occupied other resources also. for example hongkong there are many tall buildings and they occupied a large number of famlies in limited space .
tall appartment block can increase the supply of housing and reduce the shortgae of housing. In the cities land is too expensive while using limited site you can create buliding and proivde more houses rather than provide seprate houses . At one building provide more houses is also less create pressure on accommodation . A tall bulding eaisy to provide utilities solutions in the one shadow or umbrella .now a days cities are more crowded due to significant increase of population and also everyone move from rural areas for getting jobs or employment. there are a lot of opportunities but as well as some drwbacks also.
In conclution, rapid growth of population best solution is construct tall buldings and provide enough homes they create less pressure of accommodation and provide solution in the one shadow and everyone eaisly access to hospitals and universties.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including limited urban land, high land costs and Hong Kong as an example. These points address the topic, but the response develops them only partially. The Hong Kong example is asserted rather than explained, and the claim that one building can provide utilities “in the one shadow or umbrella” is unclear. The final paragraph repeats the main benefits instead of adding a developed conclusion. To strengthen the response, explain how high-rise housing increases capacity and support each reason with a specific, clearly connected example; also acknowledge a limitation or clarify the extent of your agreement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally relate to your position. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven: the discussion moves from land scarcity to resources, utilities, migration and employment without clearly showing how each point connects. Linking expressions such as “firstly,” “for example” and “In conclusion” help signal stages, but connections are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The sentence about cities offering opportunities and having drawbacks is not developed or tied back to the argument. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it before moving on. Clearer referencing and transitions would make the overall line of reasoning easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “population,” “limited space,” “housing,” “accommodation” and “opportunities,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main points. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “buliding appartment,” “shortgae” and “seprate.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “less create pressure” and “utilities solutions.” Aim to learn accurate forms and natural collocations for housing and urban development, and avoid repeating “provide” and “tall buildings” where a precise alternative is available. Proofreading for spelling and choosing familiar, accurate expressions will improve clarity more than attempting complicated vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a comparison with “rather than.” However, the range is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty. For example, “the rapid growth of population has created serious issue” has problems with articles and number, while “because rapid growth of people that's a best solution” does not form a clear grammatical clause. Subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “large building provide” and the run-on opening sentence. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals and punctuation. Shorter, controlled sentences will help you express the relevant ideas more reliably.
