Student answer (Band 4.5)
In my opinion, separate house is better than the apartment because of my most important reason is the privacy of family matters and also there is no noise issue and also if we damage the property the responsibility of my in other hand this facility is not available in apartment.
And house is better if we have large family members because they want separate rooms and also if guest is coming and stay few weeks with us so home is better because of large spaceand exta rooms are available also. apartment is opposite to house because of enough space and rooms. in my opinion apartment is best for single person or small family.
Further than i also knowledge the apartment because this is the best place of othes people who live another country or city they moved to another country or city the apartment is best place for those people. because the people is new there and in the apartment alot of people live so they guide the rules of city or apartments this is the best options for foreigner .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a relevant preference for houses and mention privacy, noise, space for larger families, and apartments’ usefulness to newcomers. However, the prompt asks whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities; most of your response compares houses with apartments rather than evaluating how high-rise construction addresses housing demand. Your position is present, but the reasons are brief and largely asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The response is also 69 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop the argument. To improve, address the city-wide housing problem directly, explain a benefit and limitation of building upwards, and support your view with a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic sequence of related points: you first discuss privacy and noise, then family size and space, and finally explain why apartments may suit people moving to a new city. This gives the reader some sense of progression. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the main argument and supporting points are not clearly separated. Connections are often repetitive, especially the repeated use of “and also” and “because,” while “Further than” does not clearly signal the relationship between ideas. Some references, such as “this facility,” are also unclear. Use separate paragraphs for your position, reasons, and conclusion, and connect each point with precise transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to housing, including “privacy,” “noise,” “large family members,” “separate rooms,” and “foreigners,” so the general topic is understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “apartment,” “house,” “better,” and “best.” Some choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as “separate house,” “the responsibility of my,” and “the best place of othes people,” which make parts of the message difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “exta” and “oth es” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise range for discussing urban housing, such as “high-rise buildings,” “housing supply,” “residential space,” and “population density,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas using clauses with “because,” “if,” and “so,” and some simple statements communicate your meaning, for example, “apartment is best for single person or small family.” However, sentence structures are mostly basic, and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “because of my most important reason is,” “if guest is coming and stay few weeks,” and “the people is new there.” These show problems with clause construction, articles, verb forms, and subject–verb agreement. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, with several sentences joined together or beginning with lowercase letters. Practise writing complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check agreement, articles, and verb forms.
