Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and the conclusion restates this view. You also give relevant reasons, including the concentration of residents and easier access to public services. However, the response only partly develops the task: the Dubai example concerns people visiting for healthcare and study, rather than showing how high-rise housing meets residents’ needs. The point about government campaigns and transport costs is also not clearly connected to providing enough homes. To strengthen the response, explain how apartment blocks accommodate more households on limited urban land, and support each reason with a specific, directly relevant example. The response meets the stated length requirement; nine words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “For instance” and “To recapitulate” help indicate stages of the argument. However, progression between ideas is not consistently clear. The opening of the second body paragraph, “On the other word,” suggests a contrast, although the paragraph continues to support your agreement. The discussion also shifts from housing to vaccination campaigns and public utilities without explaining the links between them. Some transitions feel formulaic, and the final sentence beginning “While opinions may vary” is left as a fragment. Use topic sentences that state one reason per paragraph, then connect each example explicitly to that reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related and formal vocabulary, including “facilities,” “fundamental things” and “aforementioned argument,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are frequent enough to make parts difficult to read. Examples include “cities citizen,” “propound the opposite approach,” “public facilitis” and “vital rudiments”; these are either unnatural or unclear in context. Several words are also misspelled, such as “concure,” “alos” and “govenment.” Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than elevated wording that does not fit the meaning. For example, use “city residents,” “support the opposing view,” and “essential services.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would also improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “Because not only to show off their wealth but alos cities have more facilities than villages.” However, complex structures are often incomplete or incorrectly formed, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Because not only…” is a dependent fragment, while “building owners can make tall apartment blocks” does not clearly express the intended subject or action. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks is the best way.” The final “While opinions may vary…” is another fragment. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals and agreement before adding subordinate clauses.
