Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, in large cities having your own home has become a big concern and the cities are getting more and more populated and their is not enough space for homes to be built. People say that the best way for providing homes in big cities is build tall apartment block.
As the population of the big cities rises there are many problems to overcome which includes accommodation and many others. One of the major problem is to build new homes in the city which is already too much populated and have already too many homes. For encountering there comes an idea of building a tallest appartment blocks where many people live in a very good space and can be fiitted in any side of the city. Individuals can live in the city without taking too much space.
Well, in my opinion it is a good idea to build tall apartments so people can adjust them selfs in a city and they can go to their work without coming from outside the city or at the any end of the city which can led them to waste their time. On the other hand, living in the tall appartments also have drawbacks like you dont get your space like home and you did not have any roof that is only dedicated for you. For example, in my city lahore where there are alots of tall buildings where people live but they did not have the roof and there is also a problem of parking because every building have a space for parking which they charge for and some of the people have 2 cars so becomes a problem for them.
In conclusion, i will say that for large cities it is great idea to build tall apartment blocks so there would no need to expend the city and the places will also get save from destruction of crops and many other stuff.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support tall apartment blocks as a way to house city residents and avoid outward expansion. You address the prompt with relevant points, including shorter commutes and the pressure on available land, and the Lahore example adds personal context. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The benefits are asserted rather than supported with detail, while the drawbacks about private roof space and parking are introduced but not clearly weighed against your overall agreement. The claim that blocks can be built “in any side of the city” also needs qualification. To strengthen the response, explain how high-rise housing provides more homes per area and develop one example with specific consequences or evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from the housing problem to a proposed solution, then to your view and an example. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence combines several points, and “For encountering there comes an idea” does not clearly show how the proposed solution follows from the problem. The paragraph discussing advantages and disadvantages also shifts quickly between them. Use clearer topic sentences and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit; this would make the progression smoother and referencing easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “population,” “accommodation,” “tall apartment blocks,” “parking” and “destruction of crops.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make the writing less precise. Examples include “a tallest appartment blocks,” “fiitted in any side,” “adjust them selfs” and “places will also get save.” Some expressions, such as “big concern” and “many other stuff,” are also informal or vague for this essay. Aim to learn accurate collocations for housing and urban planning, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the advantages and drawbacks without relying on repeated general terms such as “city” and “people.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which can led them to waste their time” and a contrast between advantages and drawbacks. The main meaning is usually understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms reduce accuracy. For example, “the best way … is build” needs an infinitive form, and “One of the major problem … which is already too much populated and have” has problems with number and clause agreement. In “living in the tall appartments also have drawbacks,” the subject requires a matching verb. Review sentence boundaries and basic agreement patterns, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause. Greater control would make your complex ideas clearer.
