Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You take a clear overall position in favour of tall apartment buildings, and you give relevant reasons, including expensive land, affordability, and saving commuters time and fuel. You also acknowledge disadvantages such as overheating and pressure on sewage systems, which shows some awareness of the issue. However, the response only partly develops the task: the drawbacks are not clearly weighed against the benefits, and several claims are asserted rather than explained. For example, the conclusion says there is “no other way,” although the essay has not compared high-rise housing with alternatives. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or specific example, and make your degree of agreement consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, body discussion and conclusion, and the reader can identify a general movement from the case for high-rise housing to its disadvantages and benefits. However, progression within and between paragraphs is difficult to follow. The first body section shifts from land costs to disadvantages without a clear transition, while the next begins “There is also positive aspects ... like negtive,” leaving the relationship between ideas unclear. Linking phrases such as “For example” are used, but the examples do not always connect smoothly to the point they are meant to support. Use distinct paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, begin each with a clear topic sentence, and use referencing and transitions to show how each idea relates to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “overpopulated cities,” “sewage system,” “middle class,” and “workplaces,” so the reader can understand the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations and spellings are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making meaning harder to follow. Examples include “heighted residential apartment sections,” “living place,” and “save feul,” as well as repeated use of “cities” and “apartments.” Aim for more natural housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain the benefits and drawbacks without relying on broad or unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, such as “In overpopulated cities, the land is very expensive and everyone cannot able to afford land.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the range of sentence structures remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For instance, “building a tall appartments is the only solution” has problems with article use and agreement, while “if there is any small problem in lines then digging up all streets” is an incomplete construction. There are also recurring issues with articles, plurals, verb forms and sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and punctuation.
