Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, most people argue that, the most effective way to provide accommodation is big cities is to build high rise residential. I largely agree that constructing tall apartment buildings is one of the most effective ways to address housing shortages in major cities, primarily because it allows large numbers of people to be accommodated on limited land also it reduces financial stress by reducing the rent.
One major reason to agree this statement is, building tall houses enable cities to accommodate a large number of people without consuming a vast amount of land. because population of the word is growing day by day and most people are migrating in big cities due to their work or study and that genuinly creates a housing problem. As a result of this, building multi stored building can reduce this problem as it does not take a huge amount of land to build. For example, In cities such as Singapore and Hong Kong, high-rise residential buildings allow millions of people to live in relatively small geographical areas.
Furthermore, economies of scale can make high-density housing a relatively affordable option, particularly when governments are attempting to provide accommodation for low-income residents. As tall residents provides more efficient infrastructure it cost potentially cheaper to low level income families. For instance, A government can build one 20-storey apartment complex containing 200 homes instead of purchasing a huge area of land for 200 separate houses.
To conclude, tall apartment blocks are an efficient and often necessary response to housing shortages in densely populated cities and it makes economically friendly to a lower income or a mid range income families.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you largely agree that high-rise housing is an effective response to shortages. You address two relevant reasons—using limited land efficiently and potentially lowering costs—and support them with examples from Singapore, Hong Kong, and a hypothetical government project. This gives the response a clear, relevant argument. However, the affordability point is less fully explained: the claim that high-density housing reduces rent or costs is asserted, but the link between building economies of scale and lower costs for residents could be developed more carefully. The conclusion restates your view but adds little synthesis. More precise explanation of when tall blocks are effective, and a brief qualification about their limitations, would make the argument more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from land efficiency to affordability is logical, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. The examples are placed near the claims they support. Some connections within sentences are less controlled, however; for instance, the opening reason joins the land-use point and the rent claim without clearly showing their relationship. The second body paragraph also moves quickly from infrastructure efficiency to lower costs. Use linking clauses to make these cause-and-effect steps explicit, and ensure each paragraph develops one central claim before moving to its example.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “housing shortages,” “high-rise residential buildings,” “economies of scale,” and “densely populated cities.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the examples are expressed in language appropriate to the topic. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “provide accommodation is big cities,” “tall residents,” and “multi stored building.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “genuinly” and “word” where “world” is intended. These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Focus on accurate collocations and consistent forms, such as “high-rise apartment blocks” and “lower-income households,” and proofread spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a relative clause in “a 20-storey apartment complex containing 200 homes” and a reason clause beginning “because population…”. The main argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “One major reason to agree this statement is” needs a grammatical construction such as “One major reason to agree with this statement is that…”. In “As tall residents provides… it cost…,” the subject–verb agreement and verb forms are not controlled, and the sentence lacks clear punctuation. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries; this would make your varied structures more reliable.
