Student answer (Band 6.0)
I strongly disagree with the statement that tall apartment blocks should be build in large citites to provide enough homes. Well it is not a solution for every city, adapting such methods will disrupt the city infrastructure, the city being no more than a concrete jungle. I will explain how this suggestion do not succeeded and how some cities who have adapted it faced failure and other problems.
Creating tall apartment buildings require large investments and countries having populous cities could not afford doing so. Moreover, large cities involving large population of about million couldnt be accomodated in these tall apartments alone, if built. So building tall apartments isn't a solutions as every corner of the large city could be filled with large building to suffocate the people thereunder disrupting the right to sunlight and natural air. And as the population increases this cities will be crowded more and more, dividing and subdividing the apartments reaching to the level of coffins; as we have seen in cities like honkong.
Cities who have adapted this suggestion suffered in many ways, to say, the property priced being plummeted, property available but no one to afford it and many more things. Dubai and honkong being one of the example where there is skyscrappers and large building apartments but few people wo can afford it and are forced to live in shared bedrooms, quarters and coffin rooms. The propery being available but so costly that few can afford it due to the high crowd influx into the city and high property demand.
In conclusion we should create a sustainable and environment friendly cities where houing should be affordable, and with the main metropolitan cities separate housing socities should be created to reduce stress on the inhabitants, providing them affordable housing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly disagree with relying on tall apartment blocks, and the conclusion proposes affordable, sustainable alternatives. You also give relevant reasons, including cost, overcrowding, reduced access to sunlight and air, and affordability concerns, with Hong Kong and Dubai as examples. This covers the task well, and the range of points shows some development beyond a simple assertion. However, several claims are unclear or insufficiently supported—for example, the link between high-rise construction and property prices “being plummeted,” and the claim that these cities have “faced failure.” Explain the evidence or mechanism behind these points, and develop one or two examples more precisely to make the argument more convincing and complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons and examples, and a conclusion offers an alternative. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “So,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, and the progression within paragraphs is not always easy to follow. For instance, the second body paragraph moves from property prices to affordability and then to crowd influx without clearly explaining how these ideas relate. References such as “this suggestion” and “these cities” could also be more precise. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “city infrastructure,” “sustainable,” “metropolitan,” and “crowd influx,” and some choices help express your concerns about urban housing. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “property priced being plummeted,” “the property demand,” “coffin rooms,” and “cities who have adapted this suggestion.” There are also repeated basic terms such as “large” and “building.” Aim for more natural housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish between housing supply, affordability, overcrowding, and the effects of high-rise development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “that,” “if,” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur often enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “tall apartment blocks should be build” needs a passive participle, while “Creating tall apartment buildings require” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “Well it is not a solution” also joins ideas awkwardly, and “as the population increases this cities will be crowded” contains agreement problems. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas.
