Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you completely agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes. You give relevant reasons, including limited land, reduced land use and shared facilities such as gardens and gyms. However, the response only partly develops these points. For example, the claim that apartments cause “less plant cuts” is not explained, and the facilities listed do not show directly how more homes are provided. The final suggestion about fitting two apartments into a square area could be a useful example, but it is difficult to understand and is not supported with detail. To strengthen the response, explain how high-rise construction increases housing capacity and develop one or two reasons with clear examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, several body paragraphs and a concluding section, and the ideas generally relate to housing in large cities. However, progression is difficult to follow because points are repeated and connections between them are sometimes unclear. For instance, the discussion moves from population growth to apartment facilities, then to what people prefer, without clearly showing how each point supports the main argument. Phrases such as “If we see” are repeated, while the final paragraph introduces a new proposal rather than drawing the argument together. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, arrange reasons in a logical order, and use linking expressions only where they clarify the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “population,” “scarcity of land,” “high rise building” and “consumption of land,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning unclear. Examples include “vivid homes,” “less plant cuts,” “four houses in each blocks” and “lowtrouble.” Spelling errors such as “popoulation,” “convienent” and “flour” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for housing and urban development, and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “housing shortage” and “high-rise apartments” rather than less natural or unclear phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a cause-and-effect structure in “The population increased day by day, so as people need homes to live in.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, articles and punctuation often make the reader work to understand your meaning. For example, “The tall apartment are the only solution” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “It create less plant cuts” has an incorrect verb form and unclear construction. Several sentences also lack clear boundaries or contain incomplete phrasing, such as “so by build tall apartment in large cities.” Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add complex clauses and check agreement, tense and punctuation.
