Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many counties, the demand of housing increasing because of population growth and urbanization. Some people believe that the best slotuion is to built high rise buildings. I firmly agree with this view becuase it can accomadate more poeple whie using limited land efficiency.

On the one hand, the main reason of multi story building it can provide a large number of resident in a relativly small land. ,so constructing horizantal building can lead to the expansion of cities into surrounding areas. For example, high rise apartments need less space, so leftover land can used as a parks , public amenities and for the construction of schools. In addition, high rise building is beneficial for elderly people becuase after retairment they people to talk and and spend a time with them. For instance, these apartments residents can easily meet without getting board at home and enjoy in parks.

On the other hand, another benefit is that land in major cities are often expensive. individuals living in karachi, delhi and hong kong most of them living in multi story building. Thses apartments are less expensive and convenient for residents becuase everything they need is nearby. For example, in group floor of high rise buildings there a significnat numbers of shops for grocery and other household items, which can available at any time.

In conclusion, I largely agreee with that tall building apartments are the most effective way to provide considerable homes in limited areas. Thses apartments are bughet friendly for family with low income salary.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I firmly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons for using tall buildings, including making more land available for parks, amenities and schools, and the high cost of land in major cities. The examples of Karachi, Delhi and Hong Kong also relate to the topic. However, some points are not fully explained or are unclear: the connection between apartment living and support for elderly people is difficult to follow, and the claim that shops on the ground floor make apartments more convenient could be developed with a clearer explanation. To strengthen the response, explain how each example directly supports your argument and develop the less clear ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The contrastive signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the main points, while “For example” introduces supporting details. However, the first body paragraph combines land use with the social benefits for elderly residents, so its focus becomes less clear. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “In addition” before the point about elderly people, and the transition from expensive land to nearby shops. Organise each paragraph around one main reason and use clearer references and links to show how each example supports that reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “population growth,” “urbanization,” “high rise buildings,” “public amenities” and “limited land.” These choices show an attempt to discuss housing and city planning specifically. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word combinations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “slotuion,” “accomadate,” “horizantal building” and “bughet friendly.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “a large number of resident” and “considerable homes.” Aim to check spelling carefully and learn natural collocations for housing, affordability and land use. More precise vocabulary would make your ideas easier to understand and give the response a more controlled academic style.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a result clause beginning “so.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “the demand of housing increasing” needs a finite verb, and “leftover land can used” is missing an auxiliary. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “land in major cities are often expensive” and “there a significant numbers of shops.” Punctuation is sometimes faulty, including the comma and full stop around “,so.” Practise complete clause structures, subject–verb agreement, and auxiliary verbs, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
