Student answer (Band 5.0)
In a country cities plays an important role as they are advanced, had more facilites and oppurtunities then in the rural areas of the country. People start migrating to cities for many reasons like educations, jobs, better healthcare facilites etc. To provide enough homes for them to stay in the city is to bulid tall apartments insead of separate homes is a better choice.
Apartments are of different sizes having different specifications like numbers of floors, area etc.So a normal appartment can place minimum of 5 families and then goes on maybe upto 30 families in pakistan. there are various benefits of these apartments. The main benefit is less space is occpied and these appartments are mailny built on main roads so tthe people can get acces to everything very easily. for example: a family living in the apartment need to see a doctor urgently, the access to the hospital will be easy, since apartments are bulit on main roads and locations are easy to find.
On the other hand, people living in appartments sometimes go through some issues like in pakistan Earthquack still happens, apart from that at the time of emergency one need to use stairs since mostly the elavator doesnt work or in case when power went off.
In conclusions, both had some advantages and disadvanages

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a relevant response by supporting tall apartments and mentioning both their space-saving benefit and possible problems during earthquakes or power cuts. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction calls apartments “a better choice,” while the conclusion only says both options have advantages and disadvantages. The supporting ideas are also limited and need fuller explanation; for example, the claim that apartments are near main roads and hospitals is asserted rather than developed with a specific example or comparison. The response does not fully address how this is the best way to provide enough homes, or consider alternatives. It is also 31 words below the required minimum, which leaves less room to develop your reasons. State your degree of agreement clearly and extend each main point with explanation and relevant evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting apartments, a contrasting paragraph about risks, and a conclusion. The contrast marker “On the other hand” helps signal a change in direction, and examples generally follow the points they illustrate. However, progression is limited because the conclusion does not resolve the contrast or restate a clear position, and the final sentence is incomplete in its development. Some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “apart from that” introducing earthquake risk and “for example” leading into a long explanation. The first body paragraph also combines capacity, location, and access to services without clear separation. Use topic sentences and clearer links between each claim and its explanation, then make the conclusion answer the question directly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “migrating,” “specifications,” “emergency,” and “access to the hospital.” This gives you enough language to communicate the basic ideas, but the range is limited and several choices or spellings make the writing less clear or natural. For instance, “place minimum of 5 families” is an awkward way to describe capacity, while “facilites,” “oppurtunities,” “bulid,” and “appartment” contain noticeable spelling errors. Repetition of “apartments” and “people” also limits variety. Aim to learn accurate topic collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions such as “accommodate several households” and “high-density housing” would help you explain the issue more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional example about a family needing a doctor and a contrast between benefits and risks. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “In a country cities plays,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “People start migrating … for many reasons like educations,” where the sentence structure and plural form are faulty. The opening also contains an unclear infinitive construction: “To provide enough homes for them to stay in the city is to build…” In the final paragraph, “both had” does not fit the intended general statement. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, verb forms, and complete sentence construction before adding more complex clauses.
