Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You make your disagreement clear in the final paragraph, and you identify a relevant concern: high rent, utility bills and maintenance costs may burden low-income families. However, the response only partially addresses the question of whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes. The first body paragraph lists services and facilities, but does not explain how these make high-rise construction an effective housing solution. The opposing point about costs is also asserted rather than supported with a specific example or explanation. The conclusion introduces a comparison with houses but does not resolve it clearly. Develop a consistent position from the introduction and support each main reason with a clear explanation or relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a final paragraph, so there is an attempt to organise ideas into sections. The contrast signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” also show an effort to guide the reader. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow: the first paragraph discusses facilities, the second focuses on costs, and the final paragraph repeats the contrast without drawing the argument together. Some linking phrases, such as “In contrast,” do not clearly express the relationship between the ideas that follow. Several points are presented as fragments or lists rather than connected explanations. Give each paragraph one clear purpose, link reasons to their consequences, and use the conclusion to restate your position and summarise the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “low income people,” “utility bills,” “maintenance” and “health care,” which helps communicate the general subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “cost a arm and a leg” and “financially debt.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, and some errors make the intended meaning less clear. Phrases such as “beneficial benefits,” “tall heighted buildings apartment blocks” and “enough house” are not natural English. Spelling errors, including “indiviuals,” “facilties” and “maintanence,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of housing and urban-planning vocabulary, and check that each phrase is idiomatic and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to use longer structures, including “although” and “because,” but control is limited and many sentences contain errors that make the argument harder to understand. For example, “Rent expenses is cost a arm and a leg” has problems with agreement and sentence structure, while “there several loss for live” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. The opening sentence, “there is a debate of people argue,” also combines structures incorrectly. Articles, plurals and punctuation are inconsistent, and some points are written as sentence fragments, such as the list beginning “such as.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries during revision.
