Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear position in the opening and conclusion, stating that you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks can provide homes. The response also offers relevant reasons: concentrating residents may leave space for other uses, and nearby shops or shared housing may support community life. The Sun City example is a useful attempt to make the argument concrete. However, the task is only partly addressed because these points are not explained clearly or developed with convincing detail. For example, the claim that apartments reduce pollution and crowding is asserted rather than shown, and the example does not explain how the development solves a housing shortage. To strengthen the response, explain each reason step by step and acknowledge a limitation or alternative to tall buildings.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and each body paragraph signals a separate reason. Connectors such as “One of the main reason,” “Another reason” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several ideas are placed together without clear links. In the first body paragraph, the discussion moves from residents living in a small area to offices, markets, open space and children playing, but the relationship between these points is not consistently explained. Some linking words, including “while” and “moreover,” do not clearly express the intended connection. Use a topic sentence, then develop one point at a time with explicit cause-and-effect links and clearer references.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to housing and urban development, including “apartment blocks,” “residential area,” “pollution,” “crowded” and “job opportunities.” This gives the response a basic range for discussing the topic. However, vocabulary is repetitive and many word-choice, spelling and collocation errors make parts difficult to understand. Phrases such as “the reamening place,” “not sparde the pollution” and “people are unity” do not communicate the intended meaning clearly. Frequent misspellings, including “sufficent,” “enviroment” and “opportunites,” also reduce accuracy. Build a reliable set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms; for example, use “remaining land,” “reduce pollution” and “residents can build a sense of community.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional idea beginning “if people are build tall apartment blocks.” This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas, but the range remains limited and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur throughout, as in “many people lives,” “children are plays” and “apartment has been create.” Articles and sentence construction are also frequently inaccurate, as in “the best way to provide the anough homes” and “One of the main reason i agree.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences using controlled clauses such as “If more residents live in apartments, land can be used for parks.”
