Student answer (Band 5.5)

Large cities have a growing need for more homes, so building tall apartments is often suggested as a solution. Some people believe that it can be densely populated but, I agree that high rise buildings is an effective way to provide housing for large number of peoples.

Firstly, Tall buildings can fit many families in a small area. Morever they save more space rather then small houses. Since single house takes large area to build a good house but in a tall bulding 20 floors can accommodate many families. For instance, land is llimited in cities. so, building upwards can be useful. Another benefit is that apartment buildings can reduce traffic and pullution. when people lives closer to their workplaces and schools, they can travel shorter distance. his may help minimise traffic congestion and environmental pollution.

In addition, tall apartment buildings can make it easier and cheaper to provide water, electricity, roads, and transport facilities since, many people lives in one area. Morever, this buildings can provide basic facilities such as free parking, shops and manymore this can make life more convenient for residents and reduces the pressure on public servers. a good example for this is when many families lives in one apartment building, the government can provide all facilities more conveniently in that area without any diffculty.

In conclusion, i believe that building tall apartments is a good solution for providing hhomes in large cities because they save more space and can accommodate many families with availability of many facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the question directly and maintain a clear position in favour of tall apartment buildings, especially in the introduction and conclusion. Your reasons are relevant: using limited urban land efficiently, accommodating many families, and making services easier to provide. The example of a 20-floor building helps illustrate the first point. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that apartments reduce traffic needs a clearer link to residents’ travel patterns, and the discussion of facilities repeats the general benefit without showing a specific outcome. To strengthen the response, develop each main reason with a more precise explanation or example, and briefly acknowledge a limitation of high-rise housing before explaining why you still agree.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from saving space to improving access to services, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with “Moreover” repeated, and some links between sentences are unclear. For example, “Since single house takes large area to build a good house but…” is difficult to follow, while “this buildings” does not clearly connect to the preceding point. Improve progression by making each paragraph focus on one main reason, using clearer references, and linking explanations to their supporting examples rather than relying mainly on repeated transition words.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “high rise buildings,” “traffic congestion,” “environmental pollution,” and “public services.” These choices show awareness of the subject, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision. Examples include “pullution,” “llimited,” “bulding,” and “public servers”; the intended meanings are usually recoverable, but errors can distract the reader. Phrases such as “manymore” and “a good house” are also imprecise in context. Build a more accurate set of housing and urban-planning expressions, and check spelling and natural word combinations carefully during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style explanation beginning “when people lives closer…” and a reason clause about providing services. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. For example, “high rise buildings is” should use a plural verb, and “many people lives” should use a plural verb form. The sentence beginning “Since single house takes…” is also structurally incomplete or awkwardly joined to the following clause. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and separate complete sentences with appropriate punctuation. Clearer control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
