Student answer (Band 6.0)
The rapid growth of human population house shortage is the serious problem. Some people arguing that building tall apartment blocks is the best solution to this problem. I largely agree with this statement to make the apartment blocks in large cities while using limited land, although other hpusing should also be considered.
Firstly, tall apartments buildings are an efficient way to provide homes in crowded cities. Land in urban areas is often expensive and limited, so constructing houses over a large area is not benficial or always practical. For example, most of the metropolian countries have succesfuuly used high-rise housing to accomodate their growing population.
Secondly, apartment blocks can be developed close to public transport, schools, hospitals and other essential things. This can reduce commuting time and make daily emore convenient for residents. Moreover, when housing area is concentrated in one area, it can be easier for governments to provide essential services such as water, electricity and public transportation.
However, building only tall apartments may create some disadvantages. High population density can lead to to overcrowading, traffic congestion and lack of green spaces. Some people love to live in different and personal for their privacy and also they have doubt about their safety while iving in apartment blocks. Therefore, governments should combine with low-rise housing, parks and other public facilities.
In conclusion, I believe that tall building apartment blocks is one of the most effective ways to solve housing shortages in large cities, mainly because it saves land and accomodate a large number of people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you largely agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective response to urban housing shortages, and you support this with relevant points about limited land, access to services and efficient infrastructure. You also acknowledge drawbacks, including congestion, overcrowding and reduced green space, then recommend combining high-rise housing with other facilities. This addresses the task well. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: the example about metropolitan countries is broad and does not identify a place or show how high-rise housing has helped. The privacy and safety concerns are also introduced but not developed. A more specific example and fuller explanation of these points would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have a clear central purpose, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However” and “In conclusion” help the reader follow your position. The progression from benefits to limitations is logical. Some connections are less smooth or precise, though. For example, “Therefore, governments should combine with low-rise housing” does not clearly state what should be combined, and the link between privacy and safety concerns and the proposed solution could be made more explicit. The conclusion also repeats the main claim without drawing together the key reasoning. Use clearer referencing and connect each example or concern directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “high-rise housing,” “commuting time,” “traffic congestion” and “green spaces,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “essential services” and “population density.” However, noticeable spelling errors and inaccurate word choices reduce precision: “metropolian,” “succesfuuly,” “accomodate” and “overcrowading” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, including “other hpusing,” “daily emore convenient” and “different and personal.” These issues make parts of the response harder to interpret and show that collocations are not yet consistently controlled. Proofread spelling carefully and learn common combinations such as “meet housing demand” and “preserve residents’ privacy.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “Land in urban areas is often expensive and limited, so constructing houses over a large area is not … practical” and a conditional-style point about concentrated housing making services easier to provide. Most ideas remain understandable. However, some sentence structures and grammatical forms are faulty. The opening, “The rapid growth of human population house shortage is the serious problem,” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its ideas. In “Some people arguing,” the verb form is incomplete, while “building only tall apartments may create some disadvantages” is more controlled. There are also errors such as “lead to to overcrowading” and “tall building apartment blocks is.” Aim for complete clauses, accurate verb forms and agreement, and check sentence boundaries and repeated words.
