Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, to find homes in large cities is a big problem. Some people believe that to build heighted apartment blocks can provide variety of homes in urban areas. In my opinion, to build tall apartments is a great way to provide adequate variety of homes. On the other hand, many people still love to live in a home instead of an apartment. I will give the reasons for this in the following paragraph.
To comence with, large apartment buildings are quit beneficial to accomadate huge population in large cities. It is a matter of everday observation that in many urban areas population has been increased due to which it becomes difficult to adjust people in homes. To illustrate, in my own city many societies have been shifted to apartment blocks instead of homes to accomadate more people.
Moreover, flats are convenient for many people as it has low cost and lower middle class people can also live easily. For example, in my own area apartment blocks have low rental cost as compared to homes. Furthermore, building tall apartments can also reduce homeless people. To substantiate my point people cannot find a suitable place for themselves to live which increases homless population. As a result, if development of apartments in large cities will initiate so it will solve many problems for the local population.
In contrast, many people still feel that homes are more easy to go as compared to apartments. As we all know, people believe that homes are more convenient and more relaxing. For instance, I am living in a home and it doesnot have a huge amount of stairs like an apartment. Hence, a full shift to apartment is difficult in large cities because every person have a different preference.
In the view of the above discussion, I strongly agree with the development of tall apartment blocks in large cities as it can reduce burden on local people and government. Therefore, apartments is a best way to adjust every class of people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective way to provide housing, while acknowledging that some people prefer houses. You give relevant reasons, including accommodating more residents, lower rental costs and reducing homelessness, and support these with examples from your city and neighbourhood. This addresses the task, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the link between building apartments and reducing homelessness needs a clearer account of how increased supply would make housing accessible. The opposing view is also brief: the example about stairs explains one inconvenience, but not why this preference should affect the overall solution. Develop these points with more specific reasoning and evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a counterargument and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “In contrast” and “Therefore” help readers follow the discussion. This organisation is effective, though some linking is mechanical or does not accurately express the relationship between ideas. For example, “To substantiate my point” introduces a claim about homelessness but does not provide evidence that substantiates it, while “On the other hand” in the introduction signals a contrast before the main argument is established. Some references, such as “it” in “as it has low cost,” are also unclear. Use transitions more precisely and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “urban areas,” “rental cost,” “homeless population” and “local population.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated general words such as “people,” “homes” and “apartments,” as well as noticeable spelling and word-choice errors. Examples include “heighted apartment blocks,” “accomadate,” “homless” and “more easy to go.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “provide adequate variety of homes” and “a full shift to apartment.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build a more precise housing vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; for example, distinguish housing supply, affordability and residents’ preferences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “which” and “because,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, verb forms and agreement recur. For example, “population has been increased” uses an unsuitable passive form, and “if development of apartments … will initiate” has an incorrect conditional construction. Agreement is also inconsistent in “every person have” and “apartments is.” Articles and noun forms need attention in phrases such as “a best way” and “a home instead of an apartment.” These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy. Practise forming conditionals and checking subject–verb agreement, then proofread each sentence for articles and singular/plural consistency.
