Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a position—“I partly disagreed”—and refer to apartment size and storage, so the response does engage with the topic. However, the reasons are only minimally relevant to whether tall blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. The discussion of “languages” appears to mean luggage, and the personal example about having difficulty storing belongings does not explain how this affects housing supply or compare tall blocks with alternatives. The opposing view about manageability and peace is also unclear and unsupported. To strengthen the response, explain the city-wide benefits and drawbacks of high-rise housing, develop a clear position, and support it with relevant examples. The required length is met; 20 words copied from the prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The response has a basic attempt at an introduction, supporting discussion, and conclusion, and signposts such as “To illustrate” and “Furthermore” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because points are repeated rather than developed: the conclusion restates that tall apartments are “not beneficial” without drawing together clear reasons. Several links are unclear, including the shift from storage problems to the claim that apartments are “peaceful,” and references such as “this view” do not identify a precise idea. Paragraphing is also absent, making the stages of the argument hard to distinguish. Organise the essay into clear paragraphs, with one main point in each, and use linking phrases only when the relationship between ideas is explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “disadvantages,” “manageable,” and “harmful,” and use some phrases intended to introduce examples. However, the vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and frequent inaccurate word choices make the argument difficult to understand. For example, “languages” seems to be used for “luggage,” while “tall room” and “tall house” do not clearly describe high-rise apartments. There are also spelling and word-form problems such as “anough,” “prospective,” and “benefitial.” These errors strain the reader because they obscure key points. Build a more precise set of housing terms and check that each word expresses the intended meaning; avoid repeating “tall apartment” when a clearer alternative is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You make some attempts to combine ideas using clauses, for example, “due to the fact that” and “which clearly illustrate,” and the response includes both short statements and longer sentences. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or poorly controlled, so relationships between ideas are unclear. Examples include “to extent do you agree or disagree,” which is not integrated correctly into the opening, and “Why i disagreed about this statement is one of the major reason,” where the clause structure and agreement are faulty. Articles, verb forms, and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “the the majority” and “im felt obstical.” Work on forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these basics would make your ideas easier to follow.
