Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that constructing high-rise residential buildings is the most effective solution to housing shortages in major urban areas. While high-density vertical living optimizes scarce urban land and helps accommodate growing populations, I am in complete agreement with this assertion and the following essay will outline the primary argument for supporting this view.
The first and foremost agreement point of this issue is that it saves the space in the urban areas because in the cities there are less space to build new house or live with their families so that is why build tall apartments can accommodate hundreds of families in one building or on a small peice of land ,which is beneficial in overcrowded cities. For example, in Mumbai , high-rise building llow many families to live in areas where land is limited.secondly, it reduces housing shortages becauseConstructing high-rise buildings can provide homes for a large number of people and help meet the growing demand for accommodation. Example: In Delhi, constructing apartment complexes can provide housing for thousands of people moving to the city for work. As a result, constructing a tall apartments blocks are very beneficial in cities to give chance to all the individual for live in very less space or small landand enjoy the view of urban area.
Another main point of this statement is that More affordable housing. To explain it, Apartments can be cheaper than independent houses because the cost of land and construction can be shared among many residents.
Example: In Bengaluru, many working professionals choose flats because they are often more affordable than independent houses in similar locations. Better use of urban land is another point of this view is that Building vertically allows cities to use limited land more efficiently while leaving more space for parks, roads, hospitals, and schools.
Example: In Singapore, high-rise residential buildings help accommodate a large population while making efficient use of limited land.As a result, people can find affordable accommodation within their budgets, and cities can use limited land more efficiently. This also allows more space for parks, roads, and other public facilities.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide sufficient housing in large cities because it saves space, reduces housing shortages, and makes better use of limited land.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are the best response to urban housing needs. You give relevant reasons, including efficient use of scarce land, accommodating more residents, and potentially lower costs, and support them with examples from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Singapore. This addresses the task, but the reasons are not developed equally. The affordability point, for instance, is asserted through shared costs but would benefit from explaining when high-rise housing is actually cheaper and for whom. The opening also promises a “primary argument” although several are presented, and the final unfinished sentence weakens the sense of completion. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation of its impact and ensure the conclusion is the true ending.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an identifiable introduction, body sections, and conclusion, and its main ideas are generally relevant to the position. However, progression is difficult to follow because several points are crowded into long paragraphs and transitions are often mechanical, such as “first and foremost,” “secondly,” and repeated “As a result.” The second body paragraph moves from affordability to land use and public facilities without clearly separating or linking these ideas. Some examples appear as standalone “Example:” statements rather than being integrated into the argument. Most importantly, the conclusion is followed by the unfinished line “Another main agree points of this statements is that,” which disrupts the overall organisation. Use clearer paragraph focus, connect examples to explanations, and remove the stray ending.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “high-density,” “housing shortages,” “accommodation,” and “limited land,” which helps communicate the central argument. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “accommodate growing populations.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “saves the space,” “first and foremost agreement point,” and “give chance to all the individual” sound unnatural. Spelling errors such as “peice” and “llow,” along with inconsistent forms such as “apartments blocks,” reduce precision. Repeated use of “beneficial,” “space,” and “building” also limits variety. Build a bank of natural collocations for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction (“While high-density vertical living…”) and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation make parts difficult to read. For example, “there are less space” has an agreement problem, while “build tall apartments can accommodate” lacks a correctly formed subject. The long sentence beginning “The first and foremost agreement point” runs together several clauses, and missing spaces after full stops and commas further obscure boundaries. Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, checking singular and plural agreement, and punctuating examples and supporting explanations clearly.
