Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You take a position by saying “while i agree,” and your response is relevant to the question because it mentions tall apartment blocks, population pressure and saving land. However, the position is not fully clear: the opening suggests that these buildings are prohibitively expensive, but you do not explain how this affects your agreement. The ideas about accommodating a growing city population and making space for parks are only briefly stated, with no specific example or developed reasoning. The response contains 103 words, which is 147 words below the required minimum; 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. This leaves the task only minimally addressed. Develop your reasons, explain any qualification to your position, and include a relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces a concern about cost, and the following paragraphs refer to your position and the need for housing. Linking expressions such as “however” and “while” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the relationship between the cost concern and your agreement is not explained, and the final paragraph combines several points without clear development. The repeated idea of maintaining space also makes the sequence feel unclear. Use a clear introduction, separate body paragraphs for distinct reasons, and a conclusion. Within each paragraph, connect each supporting detail explicitly to your main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “tall apartment blocks,” “population,” “development” and “space,” so the reader can identify the general subject. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “prohibitively high” and “crucial role.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, including “live comfortable life,” “overwhelm population” and “exceptionally easy life.” Repetition of “helps” and “space” also limits precision. Build a wider set of accurate housing and urban-planning expressions, and check that each phrase conveys the intended meaning. For example, describe how high-rise housing can accommodate more residents on limited land.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both a contrast and a reason, using forms such as “however” and “as,” but the response relies on a narrow range of sentence patterns. Errors in sentence construction and agreement frequently make relationships between ideas hard to follow. For example, “while i agree, as tall apartment blocks plays” does not form a complete, well-connected sentence, and “there is on growing population” has an unclear grammatical structure. The final sentence also joins several clauses without clear control. Practise writing complete simple sentences first, then combine them with accurate subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, and ensure each sentence has a clear main clause.
