Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this period of globalization, many people believe that constructing tall residential apartment blocks is the only possible way to provide enough houses to people in modern cities. In my opinion, I strongly agree with this notion and my opinion will be discussed in further paragraphs with a suitable conclusion.

Supporting my agreement to the given statement, I firmly believe that the problem of not having houses in big cities because of cost and land avability can be solved by building tall residential apatrment blocks. To cite an example, Delhi is big city in India with several multi national companies and modern infrastructure. However, people are not able to own a house in delhi because it is too costly to build a house in delhi due to land prices and strict government rules for construction. So, problem can be solved by tall residential buildings since these buildings holds hundreds of homes at a small land area.

Explaining some of the another supporting points in favour of this statement, it is true that having a house in big cities offers a lot of advantages like access to malls, parks, better schools, good hospitals and easy access to job. As a result, it can improve people's quality of life with every facitily near to them. In addition, constructing vertical tall apartments ptotect green spaces and contribute to enviroment.

In conclusion, tall residential buildings can effectively solve the major problem of houses availability in large cities and this is best way to overcome this problem. I believe that aforementioned points are strongly supporting my view points.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes. You give relevant reasons, including high land costs and the ability to accommodate many households on a small area, and the Delhi example helps illustrate the issue. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. The paragraph about nearby facilities mainly describes the benefits of city living, rather than showing why tall blocks are the best solution; the claim that they protect green spaces also needs a clearer explanation or example. Develop these ideas by comparing high-rise housing with alternatives and explaining the trade-offs, while keeping your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs and a conclusion. The main ideas are generally easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “To cite an example,” “As a result” and “In addition” help signal relationships. This shows sound organisation, with some progression between the housing shortage and the benefits of urban living. However, several transitions feel formulaic, particularly “Explaining some of the another supporting points,” and the second body paragraph shifts from access to services to environmental benefits without fully connecting them to the central argument. Use more natural transitions and make each paragraph’s main point explicit, then link its supporting details back to the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “residential apartment blocks,” “land prices,” “government rules for construction” and “green spaces.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt some less common phrasing. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “avability,” “apatrment,” “facitily” and “enviroment.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “houses availability” and “holds hundreds of homes.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for housing and urban planning, such as “housing availability,” “accommodate residents” and “preserve green space.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “since” and “that,” and most of the argument remains clear. Some grammatical errors occur, but they rarely obstruct meaning. For example, “Delhi is big city” needs an article, while “these buildings holds” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “Supporting my agreement…” is also awkwardly constructed, and “Explaining some of the another supporting points” shows problems with determiner use and sentence framing. Aim for more controlled complex sentences and proofread articles, agreement and plural forms. For instance, write “these buildings hold hundreds of homes” and “Delhi is a big city in India.”
