Student answer (Band 5.5)
With growing advancement in the cities ,the population in the city is also been increasing. People are choosing to work in the city for better perks of salary and also bright career. So, there comes a question of accomodating everyone in the city as they don't have to travel long distances to work and save time. looking at this picture, I kind of agree with the statement that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.
There are large amount of construction projects going on ,where most of them are tall apartment blocks. A former old and small building is been demolished and new projects have come up. In a way that is good also that people who are migrating from small cities for work and education will get space of living and there won't be much hustle for them. For example, people who had a small land or house is selling up their property to a builder who then constructs a huge tower of flats, where the same space is utilized and additional residences are also built.
In a way ,it is also harmful for the ecosytem as it would lead to destruction of the tress ,nature which would in turn lead to rise of global warming. Not only the huge buildings , but the concrete roads surrounding them will alos lead to increase in the heat from the ground, making the climate more hot . The natural grass and greenery will become scanty. For example, the surrounding trees were cut and ground was also utilized by the constructor to build the tower and its amenities.
Hence ,in my point of view the building of tall apartment blocks should happen but in moderate standards and not in the cost of destroying nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you “kind of agree” that tall apartment blocks can provide homes, but argue they should be built without destroying nature. You address both the housing benefit and an environmental drawback, and the example of replacing a small property with a tower helps illustrate how more homes can use the same site. However, the discussion is uneven: the housing point is explained more concretely, while the environmental argument is mostly a list of effects and would benefit from fuller explanation or a specific example. To develop the response further, explain why apartment blocks are the best option compared with alternatives, and clarify what “moderate standards” would mean in practice. The response is relevant and answers the question, though some ideas remain under-developed. (The stated word count excludes 16 words copied from the task prompt.)
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present benefits and drawbacks, and the conclusion restates a qualified position. Examples are placed alongside the relevant points, which helps the reader follow the discussion. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical, however, with repeated transitions such as “In a way” and “For example,” and the opening “So, there comes a question” does not connect the preceding ideas very smoothly. Some references are also unclear, such as “that is good also,” where the reader must infer what “that” refers to. Use a wider range of linking expressions and make references explicit; this would create a more natural progression between claims and supporting details.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “apartment blocks,” “migrating,” “global warming,” and “greenery.” There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “space of living” and “surrounding trees,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. Examples include “better perks of salary,” “hustle for them,” and “the climate more hot.” Spelling errors such as “accomodating,” “ecosystem,” “tress,” and “alos” also affect the impression of control. Build a more reliable range of collocations for housing and environmental impacts, and check spelling carefully. The meaning is generally recoverable, but word choice and spelling are not consistently accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “as it would lead to destruction…” and a relative clause describing the builder who constructs a tower. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence patterns contain errors. For example, “the population … is also been increasing” has an incorrect verb form, while “A former old and small building is been demolished” has problems with both the verb construction and sentence structure. There are also agreement and article issues in “There are large amount,” and punctuation is often missing or misplaced around clauses. Practise accurate present-perfect and passive forms, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries. More reliable control of these structures would make your ideas easier to read.
