Student answer (Band 5.5)
some poeple assume that construct tall building in cities is the best way to tackle the problem of housing . I moderately agree with this statement and i will articulate my view points in upcoming paragraphes .
on the one side, by building sky scapers in the cities decrease the housing problems because these buildings provide many apartments to the pepole as well as it also consume miminum land area as compare to single house .moreover apartments in these biuldings are cheaper than single house .
on the othe hand , not only constructing tall buildings is the best way to demolish housing chellenges there are many other factors are also responsible like proper management of cities giving proper space to every citizen to build there own house apart from this now days building house in cities is no budget friendly for everyone so government should give them subcities on houses due to this they can build their own house. furthermore if poeple live in tall building they have more risk like fire and other problems for intance in 1980 gujrat citie of inidia many peole live in tall buliding and suddenly fire occupied buliding many people lost there lives bcause these buildings have only one or two exit doors and thats was not enough for those people who lived in.
in conclusion, building large bulding is good initiative for housing problems but its not the only way, some other also challenge solve this as like well planned cities etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and state a qualified position: “I moderately agree,” then acknowledge both the housing capacity of tall buildings and their drawbacks. The points about using less land, offering more apartments, and fire safety are relevant. However, the support is uneven: the affordability point is asserted rather than explained, and the example about a fire in Gujarat is difficult to assess because its details and connection to the argument are unclear. The suggestion that governments provide subsidies and improve city planning adds a useful alternative, but it is not developed enough to show how these measures would provide homes. Explain the trade-offs and support each main point with clearer reasoning or a specific, credible example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body sections and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “on the one side” and “on the other hand” helps readers follow your position, and the conclusion returns to the central issue. However, progression within the second body paragraph is difficult to follow: affordability, subsidies, fire risks and the Gujarat example are crowded together without clear separation or development. Some linking phrases, such as “apart from this” and “furthermore,” feel mechanical, and references such as “these buildings” and “those people” are not always precise. Give each paragraph a clear central purpose, order supporting points logically, and use transitions and references that make the relationships between ideas explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “housing problems,” “proper management,” “apartments” and “fire,” and you use some topic-specific expressions such as “land area” and “exit doors.” However, the range and control are limited, with repeated general words such as “building,” “people” and “problems.” Several spelling and word-choice errors make parts harder to understand, including “sky scapers,” “subcities,” “chellenges” and “demolish housing challenges.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “fire occupied building” and “not budget friendly.” Build a more precise set of housing and urban-planning vocabulary, check spelling carefully, and learn common collocations so your ideas are expressed clearly and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrastive construction “not only …” and clauses introduced by “because” and “if.” This shows an effort to vary sentence structure. However, some sentences are difficult to follow because of errors in clause construction, verb forms, agreement and articles. For example, “by building sky scrapers in the cities decrease the housing problems” lacks a clear grammatical subject, while “if people live in tall building they have more risk” has problems with number and sentence structure. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, particularly in the long second body paragraph. Practise building complete sentences around a clear subject and verb, and divide long sentences into shorter units while checking articles, plurals and verb agreement.
