Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argue that building large apartments in big cities is the best way to provide enough homes. While some people may disagree with this view, while i completely agree with this statment because tall building blocks provide equal opportunities and benefits society as a whole.
The primary reason for my opinion is constructing large building or blocks provides facilities at doorstep. For instance, if you are living in a building in urban cities you can obtain certain facilities nearby such as grocery, shopping and transportation etc. This clearly demonstrate that living in large blocks in urban cities can bring a huge change in individual's lives. Therefore, it is clear that living in building in big cities can help create a fairer society.
Another key arguement is that large blocks occupy less space for houses. To illustrate, if more individuals living in a one big apartment there is no need to make more houses on a land it enables them to live in one space instaed of many houses. I firmly believe that argumnets in favor of my position are more convincing and better supported by evidence.
In conclusion, some people argue that people should live in seperate houses instead of tall apartments. I completely agree with the statement that large building blocks provide better facilites at a shor distance and also occupy less space. Overall, I believe individuals should live in big apartments rather than horizontal houses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you state that you “completely agree” and repeat this view in the conclusion. You also give two relevant reasons—nearby facilities and the efficient use of land—so the response addresses the topic. However, the task is only partially developed: the first reason focuses on convenience rather than explaining why tall blocks provide enough homes, and the second claim that many people can live in “one big apartment” is unclear and not supported with a specific example. The response also contains 239 words, which is 11 words below the required minimum. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a relevant example, such as how a high-rise can accommodate more households on a limited urban site.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally focus on one main point, and signposts such as “For instance,” “To illustrate” and “In conclusion” help show the intended relationships between ideas. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the discussion moves from nearby facilities to a “fairer society” without explaining the connection, while the second paragraph’s example is difficult to follow. The repeated use of “large blocks” and “big cities” also makes the writing feel repetitive. Build a clearer chain from each reason to its effect, and use referencing or varied transitions to connect sentences more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “urban cities,” “facilities,” “occupy less space” and “fairer society,” which helps communicate the general argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “large building blocks” is not a natural way to refer to high-rise apartments, and “facilities at doorstep” is imprecise. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “statment,” “arguement,” “instaed” and “seperate.” These do not make the overall position impossible to understand, but they reduce clarity and control. Use more precise housing and planning vocabulary, and proofread spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction and conditional phrasing such as “if more individuals living in a one big apartment.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors affect accuracy. Examples include “It is often argue” instead of a passive form, “This clearly demonstrate” with incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “if more individuals living” without a finite verb. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in phrases such as “in a one big apartment” and “living in building in big cities.” These errors can make some ideas difficult to interpret. Practise accurate passive forms, agreement, articles and complete conditional clauses, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
