Student answer (Band 5.0)

I agree that the best way to provid enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. A tall apartment blocks provide enough acormodations for people in the city without ocupying much space. from example, a six bedroom bongalow will ocupy the same space as then beult as a four to five or six daking. it will creat space, more comfortable with a beautiful desine. people aroun my city ,vill when they sold a pice of land to you withen the residential area, it will be on agrement that a bungalow cannot be beult on that land, else the government has the right to demolish the beulding. it is very popular in this area. the people in charge of the inspection is called the people of NCOD. They are the government law enforcement agency to make sure houses withen the city are beault in such a way to acommodate enough individuals in the city. one good thin with beuldin a tall houses is that each has a lifter for easy movement to your apartment without bumping into each other through the step case. beulding a tall apertment blocks in the city idose not only provide enough home for people but also makes the envirinment to be well arranged and beutiful. if not for the tall houses in the city , some individuals would have been sleeping on the sreets or gose back to their village as a result of lack of accomodation. to my opinion, tall bulding is best in the city becaus we have more population in the city.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including using less land, accommodating more residents, and reducing the risk of people sleeping on the streets. The example about local rules restricting bungalows also supports your point, although its connection to the effectiveness of high-rise housing could be explained more clearly. Some ideas are less fully developed than others: for instance, the claim that tall buildings make the environment “well arranged and beautiful” needs a specific explanation or example. To strengthen the response, explain how each reason demonstrates that this is the best approach, and briefly acknowledge a possible limitation or alternative. The response meets the stated length requirement; 11 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response follows a generally understandable line of argument: it begins with your agreement, gives reasons and a local example, and ends by restating your view. However, the ideas are presented as one long block, so paragraphing does not help the reader distinguish the main reasons or the example. Connections between points are also sometimes unclear; for example, the discussion of inspection officials shifts abruptly to lifts and then to the appearance of the environment. Use separate paragraphs for your main argument and supporting example, and organise each around one central point. Clearer links such as “Another advantage” or “For example” can guide the reader, but make sure each transition accurately shows how the next idea relates.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “apartment blocks,” “residential area,” “population,” and “accommodate,” and you attempt to describe local housing regulations. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are frequent, as in “provid,” “acormodations,” “beult,” and “accomodation.” Some expressions are also unclear or unnatural, such as “a six bedroom bungalow will occupy the same space as then beult as a four to five or six daking,” which makes the example difficult to understand. Build accuracy with common housing and urban-planning collocations before adding more ambitious vocabulary. For example, use “house more residents on a smaller area of land” and “high-rise residential buildings.” Proofread spelling carefully, especially for words repeated throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences that explain reasons, such as the sentence beginning “if not for the tall houses in the city.” This shows some effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, sentence boundaries and grammatical patterns are often inaccurate, which makes several points hard to follow. For example, “A tall apartment blocks provide” has a mismatch between the article and plural noun, while “the people in charge of the inspection is” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The sentence about the bungalow and the number of dwellings also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate singular and plural forms, agreement, and complete sentence construction; then use full stops to separate ideas and commas to clarify longer sentences.
