Student answer (Band 5.5)

Building big towers in large cities is the suitable way to deal with homes shortage issue while some people may oppose this idea but i strongly agree with the given concept although it could have a minor drawback but those can be managed and i will support my views in the following paragraphs.

To being with,On daily basis alot of families keep plaining to move towards big cities for better job opportunities and benefits which contributes in making the cities more populated,Furthermore,Building large towers can help in resolving the issue cities faced due to less space as more residence facility can be provided with better facilities in the less occupied land.Moving ahead,Huge towers have properly maintenace and checking system to cope with emergency issues.

on the flip side of coin, some people argue as appartment are a bit conjusted spaces unlike villages where we have more land options and big house so they dont feel comfortable with it.Similarly people sometimes dont prefer to live with communities as in huge building thousands of poeple can be but to support these things we cannot go with building individual houses in cities for each as it will require more land which is not an easy option for being in pouplated city.Another factor is price which is the main consideration for almost every individual while chossing the individual house one has to pay a huge amount but on opposite if we choose an apartment in the big tower,we can have a good option in a reasonable price.

To sum up my views,i feel there is a bit compromissed situations like feeling of conjusted space or living with a society, but living in appartments provide more benefits like better facilities with reasonable prices and many more.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are a suitable response to housing shortages, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both the benefits and a counterargument, including limited land, facilities, affordability, and concerns about cramped living. This covers the task well, and the comparison with individual houses helps explain why you favour apartments. However, some points are asserted rather than fully developed: for example, the claim that towers have effective maintenance and emergency systems is not explained or illustrated. The discussion of discomfort and community living could also be supported with a specific example. Developing these points more fully would make the argument more convincing and complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting tall buildings, a paragraph considering disadvantages and affordability, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from the housing problem to advantages and then objections. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with transitions such as “To being with,” “Moving ahead,” and “on the flip side of coin” used as signposts rather than creating smooth links between ideas. Several sentences run together, making relationships between points less clear; for instance, the opening sentence combines the position, concession, and essay plan without clear punctuation. Use paragraph-internal links and clearer sentence boundaries, and make references such as “these things” more specific to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “populated,” “facilities,” “congested spaces,” and “reasonable price,” so the reader can follow the main argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “homes shortage issue,” “residence facility,” “plaining,” and “maintenace”; these either sound unnatural or obscure the intended meaning. Repetition of “big,” “people,” and “building” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn accurate collocations for housing and urban planning, and proofread spelling. More precise vocabulary would help you express distinctions between density, affordability, and residents’ quality of life.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “while” and a conditional structure in “if we choose an apartment.” These attempts show some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the reader work to identify sentence boundaries or relationships. The opening sentence is a run-on, while “To being with” and “on daily basis” show problems with grammatical forms and articles. There are also issues with agreement and sentence construction, as in “thousands of people can be,” where the intended meaning is incomplete. Use full stops to separate ideas, check articles and verb forms, and revise complex sentences so each clause is grammatically complete.
