Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You take a relevant position in favour of tall apartment buildings, explaining that they can house many people and save urban land. The Hong Kong example also supports your general point. However, the response only minimally develops the argument: it does not explain in detail why high-rise blocks are the best way to provide homes, or consider any limitations or alternatives. The final sentence about preserving agricultural land, animals and forests is relevant but unclear and unsupported. The opening comments about liking the question do not answer it, and the required minimum length is not met, leaving important parts of the response undeveloped. To improve, state your degree of agreement directly and develop two reasons with specific explanations or examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic sequence: you introduce rising housing demand, describe the capacity of apartments, give Hong Kong as an example, and conclude with your opinion. This gives the reader some sense of the argument. However, the response is not clearly divided into paragraphs, and links between ideas are often abrupt. Phrases such as “for example” and “according to my opinion” signal relationships, but the progression from saving money and time to saving land is not explained. The opening remarks also interrupt the response rather than leading into the argument. Use a clear introduction, separate body paragraphs for each reason, and a conclusion; connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small set of relevant terms, including “population,” “demand of housing,” “apartment,” and “agricultural,” so the main topic is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “large” and “people,” and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “strogest,” “envirnoment,” “urbun,” “appartment,” and “sapce.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “saves the more money and time and space of earth.” Build a more precise range for discussing housing and urban planning, and check spelling and collocations. For instance, use “high-rise buildings,” “accommodate residents,” and “preserve land” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response relies mainly on short, simple statements, with a limited attempt at a longer clause in “the population of large cities is increasing rapidly, which is growing the demand of housing.” Frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, agreement, and punctuation sometimes make the intended meaning unclear. For example, “one flat accommodate the hundreds of people” has problems with subject–verb agreement and article use, while “when the large and small cities of country, then he construct” is not a complete, clear grammatical structure. Capitalisation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and articles before adding more complex clauses.
