Student answer (Band 4.5)

This is very interesting topic to discuss on. Firstly I completely disagree with this statement because the main reason it sounds very polluted and conjusted to live in, where as everyone loves to live in the peaceful environment.

Secondly what i think or suggest is to divide the workspace around all other states so that each state has a stable environment and atmosphere. Every state should equally be divided in to all different sectors including the workspace and living space in order to live peacefull and to maintain a healthy lifestyle instead of polluting the specific state or place.

Thirdly If that is not an option the best way to provide homes in large cities is to build homes within or isnide of all sectors or workspaces which will decrease the economy by spending a lot to build their homes just to sleep is not what i think is acceptable instead there should be designated place where everyone can enjoy or spend their vacations and feel their home and then retrun to their work homes I am using the term as work homes is meaning to combine workspace and homes.

At last taking this suggestion in to consideration is highly recomended as it will decrease the polluted lifestyle and promote a healthy lifestyle where all can spend their lives happily and will not be bored of their workspace. This will definitely incerase the country's economy and make people feel very happy to work and live their lives peacefully in the natural way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear disagreement at the start and return to ideas about pollution and a healthier lifestyle in the conclusion. However, the response only minimally addresses the central question of whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes. The suggestion to distribute workspaces across states and create “work homes” shifts attention towards planning workplaces and living areas, without explaining how this would supply enough housing in large cities or comparing it with high-rise construction. The claims about pollution, the economy and people’s happiness are also asserted rather than supported with relevant examples or developed reasoning. To strengthen the response, explain specific disadvantages of tall blocks and give a practical alternative that directly increases urban housing, supported by an example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs and uses signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “At last,” so the reader can identify the sequence of points. However, these transitions create a mechanical list rather than a clear progression of argument. The second paragraph’s proposal to divide workspaces across states is not clearly connected to the question of housing, and the third paragraph introduces “work homes” without defining the idea until the end of a long sentence. Some links between claims are also unclear, particularly the move from building homes near workspaces to “decrease the economy.” Organise the essay around a small number of directly relevant reasons, and use each paragraph to explain one point and show how it supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “polluted,” “congested,” “designated place,” and “healthy lifestyle.” However, the range is basic and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less clear. For example, “conjusted” and “peacefull” are misspelled, while “decrease the economy” does not express the likely intended idea of reducing costs. “Work homes” is an unusual phrase that is not clearly explained, and “workspace” is repeated without much variation. Aim for accurate topic vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “overcrowding,” “housing supply,” and “commuting distance,” and check spelling and word choice carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “so that,” and your main position is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often difficult to follow because clauses are joined without clear grammatical control. For example, “the best way … is to build homes … which will decrease the economy by spending a lot” has an unclear relative clause and an awkward relationship between ideas. There are also recurring errors with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “This is very interesting topic” and the long sentence beginning “Thirdly If that is not an option.” Use shorter, complete sentences when expressing a new point, and check articles, capitalization, and punctuation when combining clauses.
