Student answer (Band 6.0)

Building apartment on top of eachother is a great way to accomodate families in big cities. I agree with the view that building apartment blocks is a great way to provide housing to people. It can be beneficial for the city to give space to families in less area and provide economical housing schemes that is affordable for everyone.

Firstly, population in big cities can be huge. Due to which apartment blocks can be a good initiative to provide people with a necessity, that is housing. Homes built on top of each other occupies less ground space. That can be important for government to keep space for open ground such as parks. With more space, streets and roads can be properly build, that can result in less congestion as transport plays a huge role in metropolitan cities.

Secondly, government can built economical housing schemes that is affordable for the majority of the population, in tall apartment blocks less materials is used. Wiring and pipes can be interconnected through-out the building that can save in materials cost. The building materials can be bought in bulk which result in better pricing from the vendors, reducing the overall cost of the apartment. Government should also take initiative to sell the houses directly to the customer instead of handing it over to investors or builders that rise the prices to keep their cut or share.

In conclusion, i agree with the statement that tall apartment blocks is a good way to provide enough homes to people. One advantage is that with apartment built on top of eachother less space is occupied that can be utilized for other facilities and also apartment can be more economical choice than building a separate home.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you agree that tall apartment blocks can provide housing in large cities. You give relevant reasons, including using less ground space, preserving room for parks and roads, and potentially reducing construction costs. These points address the question, and the examples about interconnected services and bulk purchasing add some support. However, the cost argument is asserted rather than fully explained, and the suggestion that governments sell directly to customers introduces a related but insufficiently developed point. To strengthen the response, explain the conditions under which apartment blocks are effective and acknowledge a limitation or alternative, so the discussion is more fully developed rather than relying mainly on general claims.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted with “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion that restates your position. The ideas generally progress from the need for housing to land use and then construction costs. This makes the argument easy to follow. Some connections are less smooth, however. “Due to which” begins a sentence fragment, and the shift from construction savings to selling homes directly to customers is abrupt. The conclusion repeats the main points but does not draw them together in a new way. Use linking expressions that show precise relationships between claims, and connect each supporting detail explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “population,” “metropolitan cities,” “congestion,” “housing schemes,” and “building materials,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range and control are uneven, with repeated general terms such as “good,” “space,” and “apartment,” and several inaccurate or awkward choices. For example, “provide people with a necessity” and “keep space for open ground” are not natural collocations; “rise the prices” also uses the wrong verb form for the intended meaning. Spelling errors such as “accomodate” and “eachother” further reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise housing and urban-planning expressions, and check collocations and spelling during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “that” and a sentence explaining how interconnected wiring and pipes may reduce costs. The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “Homes built on top of each other occupies” and “less materials is used”; the latter also needs a plural noun. “Due to which” is not a complete sentence in its current position, while “government can built” uses the wrong verb form. There are also article and punctuation issues, such as “i agree” and the comma splice in “With more space, streets and roads can be properly build, that can result…”. Review agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to practise complex structures.
