Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that the best way to provide sufficient homes to every family in large cities by building greater communities with greater heights. I strongly agree this statement because save land and accommodate more people. Following this, get in affortable housing.

To begin with, build tall apartment blocks can help to save land and accommodate more people. This is because, by building tall bulidings we can provide 100s of houses in same block through this we can provide easy accommodation to many families in same region. For example, during my schooling my family migrate to city for better eduaction then we search for individual home we didnot find because of heavy crowd already available in major cities then some one reccommend one greater community their we find a house which provides basic facilities. As a result, through appartments we can provide more accommadation in small land.

However, we can buy flat in affortable housing. Because, construction of multiple structure of buildings can decrease the construction cost than construction of one individual house. Moreover, goverment provide more facilities like water, electricity, regular cleaning at greater communities. As a result, a family easily access to everything and get a better facilities.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks, mainly because we can provide more accommadtion in small land that gives home for and every family and easily access to all basic facilities provided by government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons about saving land, housing more people and reducing costs. The personal example about your family moving to a city also supports the discussion. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the example is difficult to follow, and the claim that apartment construction makes housing affordable is asserted rather than explained with evidence or detail. The response also does not fully meet the task’s required length: it contains 234 words, 16 below the 250-word minimum, and 16 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each reason further and explain how it supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally focus on separate reasons, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “However” and “In conclusion” help show the intended organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. In the first body paragraph, the personal story moves from searching for an individual home to finding a flat, but the links between these events and the main point are not always easy to follow. “However” also suggests a contrast, although the next paragraph adds another reason for agreement. Some linking phrases, including “As a result,” are repeated mechanically. Use clearer references and more precise transitions to make the relationship between each example and claim explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “accommodate,” “construction cost,” “basic facilities” and “individual house,” so the main subject is clear. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less natural and sometimes slow the reader. Examples include “greater communities with greater heights,” “get in affortable housing” and “provide more accommadation in small land.” Repeated use of “provide,” “more” and “greater” also limits precision. Aim for accurate, natural phrases such as “high-rise apartment buildings,” “affordable housing” and “make better use of limited land.” Check spelling carefully, especially in key topic words, and choose vocabulary that expresses the intended relationship precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses with “because,” “then” and “which,” but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “the best way … by building” is an incomplete construction, while “I strongly agree this statement because save land” lacks the necessary grammatical links. Other examples include “build tall apartment blocks can help” and “a family easily access to everything,” where the verb patterns are faulty. Articles and plurals also need attention, as in “in same block” and “a better facilities.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking verb forms, articles and singular/plural agreement.
