Student answer (Band 6.0)
nowadays, the increasing population in large cities has created a growing demand for housing. Some people believe that the best way to provide enough houses is to construct tall appartments blocks. i largely agree to the statement because high-rise buildings can accomudate many peoples, having said that, other housing options are also neccessary.
the first reason why i support this view is that tall buildings can provide houses to many peoples in a small area. In major cities, where land is far more expensive and limited, making it difficult for everyone to make individual houses. by contructing high-rise buildings, developers can create large number of appartments on the single piece of land.
For instance, in large and industrial cities like karachi, appartment bulidings can provide homes to many peoples without requiring large land for separate houses. as a result, this strategy can reduce wastage of land and make urban land use more efficient.
Another important reason is that appartment bulidings can be built near workplaces, schools, hospitals, and public transport facilities. This alllows people to access services more easily and may reduce wastage of time. Building sappartments in these areas can control in the wastage of agricultural land. however, building tall buildings may not solve every problem. If appartments are poorly designed and too expensive then low income families may suffer to find suitable house. therefore, authorities should ensure affordable housing is available with proper facilities.
To conclude, I largely agree to the statement that constructing tall appartments can be benificial in providing enough housing in large cities. Having said that, this strategy should be apply with affordable housing policies and proper facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you “largely agree,” while recognising that other housing options are necessary. You support this with relevant reasons about accommodating many residents on limited, expensive land and locating homes near services. The Karachi example also helps illustrate the land-use point. This meets the task well, though the two main arguments are not equally developed: the benefits of proximity to workplaces and services are asserted rather than supported with a specific example, and the concern about affordability is introduced briefly without explaining how policy could address it. To strengthen the response, develop each point with a concrete consequence or example and clarify why high-rise construction is the best approach, rather than simply one useful option.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Its progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “the first reason,” “For instance,” “Another important reason” and “To conclude” help readers identify the stages of the argument. The contrast introduced by “however” also signals a relevant qualification. At times, though, linking is mechanical, and some connections between ideas are not fully clear. For example, the sentence about controlling the wastage of agricultural land follows the discussion of nearby services without explaining the link. Improve cohesion by grouping related points more tightly and using pronouns or transitions that make relationships explicit, rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposting.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “high-rise buildings,” “limited,” “public transport facilities,” “low income families” and “affordable housing.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range and precision are uneven, and repeated use of “appartments” and “buildings” makes the writing less varied. Several noticeable spelling errors—such as “accomudate,” “neccessary” and “benificial”—also weaken control. Some phrases are awkward or imprecise, including “wastage of time” and “control in the wastage of agricultural land.” Aim for accurate collocations and more precise wording, such as “save time” and “limit the loss of agricultural land.” Proofreading spelling and varying repeated nouns would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a relative clause in “cities, where land is far more expensive and limited” and a conditional sentence beginning “If apartments are poorly designed.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “making it difficult for everyone to make individual houses” is an incomplete construction after the preceding sentence, and “this strategy should be apply” uses the wrong verb form. There are also issues with articles and plurals, as in “on the single piece of land” and “many peoples.” Check that dependent clauses are attached to complete sentences, use the correct verb form after modal verbs, and review singular/plural agreement and article use.
