Student answer (Band 5.5)

Currently plenty of nations are facing housing crisis and some advice to counter the problem is to build tall apartments blocks in large cities which i personally agree is the right solution for housing crisis..

Housing crisis has been a major problem for many countries like japan and singapore authorities tried to establish certain rules to counter the problem like structured housings limiting area of housing developments, however, these rules did not provide any benefit for long-term for authorities.a single house often take plenty of land but when we compare it with apartment building it becomes opposite as apartments have elevation that can support plenty of rooms for other individuals which can directly eliminate the worry of land area..

On the other hand,Nowadays houses cost a fortune when individuals try to buy new house they have to cover the cost of land to and looking at housing crisis sellers usually benefits from solution and ask for more money than market price,Meanwhile apartments are generally way cheaper than houses because apartments does not add land cost in total as well private firms tend to attract individuals who seek negotiations,As well real estate agents aim to sell as many apartments they could to grow their business which directly benefits the buyers and as well governments as apartments brings solution to housing crisis which governments have to deal with but with more rooms to hold people and being cheaper than houses attracts masses and authorities..

In conclusion,Tall apartments can help with housing crisis as they take less space and generally cheaper than traditional houses while providing similar experiance to masses

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that tall apartment blocks are an effective response to housing shortages. You give relevant reasons, especially that apartments use less land and can be cheaper than detached houses, and you refer to Japan and Singapore. This addresses the question, but the support is uneven. The first body paragraph mentions rules and housing developments without explaining what these examples show or providing a specific illustration. The affordability paragraph also makes broad claims about sellers, private firms and agents that are not clearly linked to why high-rise construction is the best way to provide enough homes. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or concrete example, and acknowledge a limitation or alternative to make the argument more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, with the main argument progressing from land use to affordability. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several claims are joined into very long sentences. For example, the second body paragraph moves from house prices to sellers, apartment costs, private firms, agents and government benefits without clearly separating these points. Connectors such as “On the other hand” do not signal a genuine opposing view, since the paragraph continues to support your position. Use shorter units, organise each paragraph around one central reason, and make links between claims explicit. This would make the overall arrangement clearer and reduce the impression of ideas being added mechanically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “housing crisis,” “housing developments,” “land area” and “real estate agents,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main points. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “eliminate the worry of land area.” However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “structured housings,” “apartments have elevation,” and “sellers usually benefits from solution.” Repetition of “housing crisis,” “apartments” and “solution” also limits flexibility. Choose more precise collocations—for example, describe apartments as making efficient use of land—and check spelling and word forms such as “experience.” A broader, more natural range of housing-related terms would make the argument more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “when” and “because,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in long sentences that combine several ideas. Examples include “a single house often take plenty of land” and “apartments does not add land cost,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect. Articles and plural forms are also unreliable, as in “buy new house” and “apartments blocks.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention: the second body paragraph is largely one run-on sentence, and capitalisation after commas is inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses carefully. More consistent agreement, articles and punctuation would improve clarity.
