Student answer (Band 5.5)
In big cities, building long heightened appartments is a great way of providing people residencies. I completely agree with this idea, as it offers more space for government to build new parks and hospitals for citizens. Moreover, these buildings allow residents to pay less rent as comared to living in a high society, towns, or blocks.
On the one hand, making tall appartments can be beneficial in many ways. Firstly, these buildings occupy less space paving a path for government to allocate these free places for the facilitation of common citizens. Government can use these free spaces for building public parks, hospitals and other educational institutes. For instance, the government of Pakistan is focusing on tall buildings for homeless people in the congested villages, so that the less land is utilized for residency, and can be utilized for educational purposes such as building high schools for girls.
On the other hand, these tall appartments also assist the middle class people to pay less rents as compared to living in high profile societies. Moreover, when there is some construction or renovation work is going on, all the residents have to pay equal amount of money. For instance, in Karachi during the summer season, people living in these tall buildings have signed a contract with an air conditioning company, in which their ACs are serviced all together, and the bill is divided equally to every resident in this building.
In conclusion, providing people homes by building tall appartments is a great option as it allows government to have more properties allocating for public facilities, and also these buildings have a small amount of rents as compared to the high societies which can be beneficial in financial ways.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree that tall apartment buildings can help provide homes. You give two relevant reasons—using less land for public facilities and reducing residents’ costs—and include examples from Pakistan and Karachi. However, the response only partly develops the task’s central claim about providing enough homes. The first example shifts towards schools and parks, while the second focuses on shared air-conditioning costs rather than explaining how apartment blocks make housing more available or affordable. Develop each reason more directly, for example by explaining how higher density accommodates more households on limited urban land and what conditions make this approach effective.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion that restates your view. This gives the reader a basic route through your argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first moves from saving land to public facilities and then to schools, without consistently linking these points back to housing supply. The second shifts from lower rent to shared maintenance costs. Some linking phrases, such as “Moreover,” connect ideas mechanically rather than showing their precise relationship. Use clearer topic sentences and explain the connection between each example and your main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “congested,” “allocate,” “residents,” and “public facilities,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make the writing less precise. Examples include “long heightened appartments,” “people residencies,” “high society,” and “small amount of rents.” There are also spelling errors such as “comared” and repeated misspelling of “apartments.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than more elaborate-sounding phrases: use “high-rise apartment buildings,” “housing,” “upmarket neighbourhoods,” and “lower rents.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would also improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “as,” “so that,” and “in which.” This allows you to express reasons and examples, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, some sentence patterns are faulty or awkward. For example, “when there is some construction or renovation work is going on” incorrectly combines two clause structures; write “when construction or renovation work is going on.” In “the bill is divided equally to every resident,” the preposition pattern is incorrect; use “divided equally among the residents.” There are also article, agreement, and plural errors, such as “pay less rents” and “a small amount of rents.” Practise checking clause structure and noun agreement in longer sentences.
